Been hearing the same tune for some time...may be time to bite the bullet and see what the hype is about...

If it compares to the Suikoden series I'll be impressed...

You could probably say the same thing about Suikoden II if you think of it. One of the greatest RPGs of all time but it's english release was very limited (IIRC, only about 10,000 copies were pressed in english) and there hasn't been an english re-release so people are still missing out.

...but ffviii is the best jrpg of all time.

Yes someone else that appreciates the awesomeness that is FFVIII, easily my favourite FF ahead of X & VI
