Xerri - how many?

One is to devalue a group of people reinforcing a belief that they don't belong in society, the another is an assault against another person.

So which one is worse, in your opinion?

The mean words or the physical assault?

Don't fluff about with a paragraph of gobbledygook, just get to the point.

Which is worse: the mean words or the physical assault?

North qualify for Legal Aid don’t they
Pretty sure even legal aid don't start their defence by conceding their client did the thing the prosecutor is accusing them of, in circumstances where everyone agrees there's no actual evidence they did the crime they're accused of.... except for the defendant's own admission. Bizarre strategy if you ask me. :tearsofjoy:

Strange comment. I really don’t see either of those two things being any less condemnable than the other.

I just realised that neither of the Essendon players were cited. I thought the AFL were cracking down on head knocks. We have a behind the play incident which leaves a player stunned and on the ground with a bloody nose and it is given the all clear. Wtf?

Prove there was blood. 😎

Last person to do it was ex-Brisbane star and current Geelong coach Nathan Buckley who got 1 week for smearing blood on an opponent's jumper. If I recall, ex-Brisbane star Buckley did it so that both players would have to come off the ground for the Blood rule.

Xerri is guilty of smearing his blood on the skin of an opponent. I think a full season suspension is appropriate.
Collingwood captain Buckley was a less offensive act than this.
4 weeks was about right I’d have thought for xerri.

Fwiw I think it's incredibly funny that The worst captain in the AFL sniped him from behind causing the nose bleed collision, and then when the ball was immediately turned over after a 100m penalty that same captain decided to get stuck into the guy he sniped, instead of his own teammates for some how turning a 100m penalty into a goal the other way.

Not justifying what Xerri did but he must have been incredibly confused by how ****ing dumb mcgrath is

Strange one as there's so little precedent. It's definitely very inappropriate and invasive, but in the heat of the moment I can see why he did it. He just apologised and did seem remorseful. I think 3 weeks seems appropriate. Kind of a shame for North.

That's an utterly bizarre take. It wouldn't enter my mind as something that i or anyone could ever do let alone even think of doing in any situation. Wiping your own blood onto someone elses face.
No it wouldn't enter my mind, but I can see why people are provoked to do crazy things in these circumstances.

I think we're at the stage where remorse should be taken as read, aren't we? We should be going the other way with discounts: I don't think Xerri deserves a discount for his regret and apologies, but it might have been worth a couple of extra weeks if he hadn't done that. Everyone apologises when they've been reported and it's obvious that they're guilty and we could cynically take that as doing what they can to minimise the punishment, rather than any genuine remorse.

Three seems on the light side to me, I would have thought a couple more at least should have been the starting point.

Buckley got one match.
Yeah because he didn’t wipe it on his face of all places. Yet I remember the outrage.
Xerri is so lucky, I don’t get why it deserves lesser punishment because it’s not a regular occurrence.
It’s not a regular occurrence because no one is that god damn filthy.

Bit of a fwit. Fancy losing your sht over a bloody nose. I thought he was a tough guy.
