XFL 2020 - Week 1

Gonna be good filler between Super Bowl and AFL season. Good to see its on Kayo/ESPN,as worried we'd be shutout in Aus.
Isn’t that what the AFLw is for?

I precursor my BattleHawks choice on the proviso that San Diego don't get a team in the future. Was really hoping they would at start up.

Shame I’m going to miss the first month of the year while travelling.
Hopefully the league hasn’t collapsed by then
Dont see them folding mid season like the AAF. the money behind the league wont back away after 2 weeks like the AAF had.

And the TV partners are better than the AAF.

Nice to see some early days CFP quarterbacks in Cardale Jones and Conor Cook getting an opportunity.

Jones had a meteoric rise in the 2014 season at Ohio State, coming from 3rd on the depth charts to getting his first start in the big 10 championship game, sugar bowl defeat of Alabama, and the inaugural CFP title over Oregon. Pretty impressive start!

I watched a stack of Conor Cook at Michigan State, his senior year took them to the CFP, but got whamped by Alabama.

Looks like I'm a Houston Roughrider fan for life now.

Antonio Callaway is interesting one...I thought Vince said no druggies?

He really is useless tho, not being able to stay on a NFL roster for two years. Knowing it was his final chance.

Suspended ex-Browns WR Antonio Callaway has been placed on injured reserve by the XFL's Tampa Bay Vipers with a lower-leg injury.
Callaway had to be carted off the field on Wednesday. The exact nature of his injury is unclear, though the Wednesday dispatches were not promising. Suspended by the NFL for the first 10 games of the 2020 season, Callaway was hoping to rehab his value in the league's latest unofficial development league. Now he will be trying to overcome both his health and substance-abuse issues.

Introducing "Team 9"

Team 9 is essentially an extra squad stocked with players available to fill open roster spots on any team in the league at any time. Say the St. Louis BattleHawks lose a safety in Week 2, they can “call up” a football-ready replacement in time to face the New York Guardians in Week 3.

“So Team 9 will be ready to roll as a replacement team that’s got to be constantly replenished, so all these guys that got the bad news about getting cut, a bunch of them of them are going to be back in the league through Team 9.”

The slimmed-down Team 9 roster won’t include specialists (kickers, punters, long snappers) but will have all other position groups and will practice several times per week. The human performance company EXOS will also work with Team 9 daily to improve strength and conditioning in an effort to cut down on potential injuries

‘Team 9’ Roster:
Quarterback (4):
Joe Callahan, CJ Collins, Garrett Fugate, and Marcus McDade

Running Back (2):
Darnell Holland and Ray Lawry

Wide Receiver (6):
Davon Grayson, TreyDonte Hill, Taivon Jacobs, Dalton Ponchillia, Andrew Verboys, and Carl Whitley

Tight End (2):
Connor Davis and Pharoah McKever

Offensive Line (8):
Center: Ryan Anderson
Guard (2): Korren Kirven and Terronne Prescod
Tackle (5): Nick Callander, Gerhard de Beer, Brandon Haskin, Patrick Lawrence, and Rod Taylor

Defensive Tackle (4):
Daryle Banfield, Shane Bowman, Andrew Stelter, and Trenton Thompson

Defensive End (3):
Jesse Aniebonam, Martin Ifedi, and Alex Jenkins

Linebacker (2):
Markus Jones and Darnell Leslie

Defensive Back (8):
Bryce Cheek, Reggie Cole, Marwin Evans, Tyree Holder, Josh Jenkins, Derrick Jones, Jermaine Ponder, and Robenson Therezie

as long as they dont give them a logo and uniforn then i wont support Team 9

good concept tho, team 9....its basically a FA pool but theyre all weekly training with each other, have some coaches or handlers
Its kinda a league wide practice squad. but practice like a real team.
Just basic O and D schemes
