Your best player ever and one of the greatest of all time produces two potential young guns for you to build a team around in to the future ....

dont get much better than this right now for cats fans does it ... ?

this story has it all ...

all the best for the future !

Indeed we are all damn happy with Nathan starting out, but we cant get too ahead of ourselves. He has earnt his spot again for next week with a great performance but in no way do i think he is a regular yet.

And Gary Jnr, well its great to see him back in some form!

Yeah agree, nathan has done a nice job to date but he is still 2-3yrs off reaching his potential, i'd say they would be doing alot of short sprint work over the summer, he is a big lubbering type of kid but he looks good so far so lets hope he continues to improve, he may not even be a regular next year either, Thompson has done a good job handling the kids over recent times, doesn't play them too often like what happened to Fraser at Collingwood

Cinderella story thus far. Couldn't ask for anything more. The hairs were standing up on the back of my neck during the whole first quarter yesterday.

Nathan has been brillant and it is good to see him enjoying himself and not being overawed by the fans. Here's to his first full preseason in his life, and lets see what can happen next year. Good to see him earning his spot, and good to see the players offering his leads, and the coaches isolating inside 50m. They have handled the situation brillantly. Whilst we can't get carried away, lets enjoy it for everything it has been so far, a breath of fresh air.

Lil Gaz even looks like he is back enjoying himself.

A promoters dream. Can't wait for the tigers.

Good on the Cats, and to all those fans who slag them on this board over the last month, have a good hard look at yourselves. Yes there had been some ordinary efforts, but take 5 - 6 key personnel out of any side and see how they fair. When we were up and running early on we looked dangerous, if we could have kept that structure who knows what might have been. The Saints are living proof of the rollercoaster that injuries can play, and it is a testament to the Lions for being so successful over the last three years with the injuries they have sustained at times.

I say we have to find Nathan a nice girl, then he and Gaz can start the reproduction process to ensure the tradition continues.

Long live the greatest name in football!

I wouldnt be suprised if he isnt a regular next year. When we have all our players back, he most probably will not be in the team which is good because he is so young AND we know how fragile he is, but holy c*** he will be good.

Reminds me of a debut a bit like Adrian McAdams for the roos in 1993 haha ;)

So far it's what dreams are made of, just hoping it has a fairytale ending as well.

That's nothing, my girlfriend informed me I was more excited in the first quarter than during other........moments. I defended myself by pointing out she's not a Geelong fan, and thus wouldn't understand.

Seriously though, it's amazing he stepped up, his form in the 2nds hasn't been that great. Shows a lot of talent to be able to up your game when you have to.

Very true its all that is missing - anyway try and enjoy the ride either way ...

good luck !

I was pumped i kept thinking well that will do him they will tighten up but he just kept getting it. Best debut (2nd game) by a Geelong player for a long time.
Keep a lid on it.

Ahahahaha, I'm sure that every girlfriend/wife of a geelong supporter was thinking the same thing :)
I was visiting my grandfather in hospital and while he was asleep, snuck out to catch some of the first half in the waiting room...While I was nice and quiet...my excitement was skyrocketing! I almost jumped out of my chair at one point, then remembered where I was and toned it down. :o

Very true people. It is exciting times down at the cattery. I know it is something that i will cherish being there for his for his first few games.

At the same time, we really have to keep a lid on it. He is a super talent and will play many games for the geelong football club, but we must not put too much pressure on him.

It was so refreshing to see the greatest player to ever play the game return to the cattery. I think the players as well as the supporters were very excited to see his return and i think it contributed largely to our efforts on the weekend. As Sando said on the Sunday footy show, the players were very excited to meet him.

It was also very pleasing to see the great man obliging to autograph seekers and tell the interview seekers where to go. IMO it was not the right time for the media to ask him for interviews when he is watching his sons play football.

I would really love to see him at more games as he created a real buzz around the ground. It was very exciting.

Yeah, because there are so many other opportunities.

As for Nathan, I think it's the game we all quietly hoped would happen. Did anyone else secretly dream of him kicking 10 at quarter-time?

Anyway, I don't care how many games he plays next year, just as long as he enjoys it. I think just having Gary there is making all the difference.

Not quite every girlfriend of a Geelong supporter thinking the same thing - my guy's a Geelong supporter too, and I swear it was one of the most exciting afternoons we've shared. Had to ring the local radio station to give them a spray for superimposing the regional footy scores over the top!

From what I've seen, the inclusion of Nathan has had a great effect on Gary Jr. He's hitting some form again, and he's taken on a leadership role as such, keeping an eye on his younger brother. Could become a big part of Gary's maturing as a player, because he knows he needs to lift for his brother.

What I also saw was that Nathan straightened us up a bit. The same thing was happening when Ottens was playing at FF before he injured against Melbourne. Anyone notice how we hit the wall after he went off. The early touches gave the boys confidence in him, and they kept on looking for him.

However, I think we need to keep him in the 50. When he was running around the ground, Glass outclassed him a bit, which is understandable, Glass is a good player. When Otto's back, get H and Kent running around half forward, then Nathan and Otto in the 50. Reckon anyone's got enough tall defenders for that?

Anyway, get a pre-season into him, some fitness, some weights and some acceleration work, and he'll get better up field as well.

And I reckon you could have heard me down the road when Nathan took that grab over the WC player...loved it.

Sounds familiar. Ever since he got drafted, my girlfriend has got used to me answering 'Nathan' whenever she asks me what I'm thinking about. When I'm grumpy she tells me to think about Nathan. She knows me well.
