Rich was lousy last night, but I'm sure he'll go well over the journey. He was the "most ready" of the draftees, but he slipped a bit in the draft due to concerns over his long-term ceiling. He's not tall, or quick, etc. Had a shocker last night.

Yarran's ceiling has not been questioned. He has "potential" to be amazing. I'm really pleased with his progress this year, and he has the look about him of a player who could be a superstar. Of course, potential means nothing, and he still has it all to do in front of him.

This has nothing to do with comparing Yarran to Rich you idiot.

We've also had a lot of players unavailable too, stop using it as an excuse because those guys can't cure you're terminal lack of leg speed.

Hi Nuff...

Yarran will certainly be better than Rich, I'd say they are on par at the moment due to Rich having a fantastic debut year and doing nothing this year and Yarran not doing much in his debut year (yes...due to not getting a game whilst injured) and now showing what he has got.

Unfortunately we have seen the majority of what Rich can bring to the table and no upside from here. Put a tagger on Rich and he becomes a non-equation. Where as Yarran has shown about 30% of what he has to offer. He is stupidly talented. Just needs about 2/3 more pre-seasons to build that 427 big block engine and he will be one of the top players in the comp for years to come.

I have actually noticed that Yarran has been backing him self by taking the longer shots for goal. Something that was missing when he first started. Still gives off the pass inside 50, but that's to be expected when there is a better opportunity to score.

I want to see Yarran have more of a stint in the middle as he is as slippery as an eel with pace to burn. His closing speed is amazing, plays laconic, but chases like a cheetah.

Thumbs up to Ratts who listened to Hughes on draft day. :thumbsu::D

I can't wait for yarran to say i wan't to get traded back to Freo. And we've got hilly & yarran coming of the wings at subi and destroying sides.:D

keep dreaming.....as far as we're concerned, the club is being more than proactive to make him comfortable at our club. his confidence level is building, hence the performance.

the guy makes it look far too easy when handling the pill. is that normal? who knows, all i can say yarran is special and he's ours! :D

Reckon there's some Shaun Burgoyne about Yarran?

In all honesty - I see a half Burgoyne half Cyril Rioli in Yarran.

Burgoyne comparison: With ball in hand, he glides across the field and disposes of the ball with exceptional skill. Doesn't look as if he is travelling at 100% (laconic style) but you know that the disposal will be effective and to advantage. Can side step around opponents, bork (spelling) and just wrong foot people. Has that natural skill.

Rioli comparison: Chases like his life depends on it and tackles with intensity. With space in the forward, can out position an opponent. Can fumble at times and then tries to do the amazing by tapping the ball forward in front of him to get space and kick that amazing goal. Slippery!!!

still too early to tell who will be better. its the same argument as last year when rich was the better play. Clubs dont draft players to be at their best as 18-19 year olds, they draft them to be 10-12 year players.

At this stage Rich has been the better player. he now gets tagged and has struggled this year. Yarran was unfit last year and has improved so much this year. Got sublime skills.

Both Brissy and the blues would be rapt with both players. In about 6-8 years we can argue who is better.

Prime example is the Hodge, Ball, Judd comparison. Judd was always better, ball was better than hodge early. Now it is almost Hodge-Judd-------Ball

Once he gets the tank he will be a star. You can see from his brief stints in the middle that he has the ability to take hold of a game and turn it our way. Those one handed pick ups around the contest is pure silk. This mix of speed and strength is special.

At this stage Rich is still infront but this is to be expected as he had the most AFL ready body of that draft. He has the runs on the board and will probably be considered the better player for a couple more years.

Yazz needs to build that tank and it will take at least 2/3 years. I would like to get him into that gym that Betts, Hoops and Walker had to do during the pre season. He needs to trim that body fat and get really strong.

I love the kid and hope he can realise his potential.

Terrible example of fence-sitting :p. How would you ever make a call on draft day???

Yarran is a far more exciting prospect....period.

Hahaha you mugs. Rich is being thrown right in the coalface and learning to

have inside skills as well as being an outside player on the wing, as he was

last year. This is still essentially a learning year for him. Unlike Yarran, young

Daniel Rich is being primed to be a consistent

and hard ball winner, and not a down hill skier who pops up every few games

with some opportunistic goals.

in five years time:

Chris Yarran = Leon Davis
Daniel Rich = Brownlow medallist

BTW i am not bitter about tonights win, you guys well and truly whooped our pathetic asses, i just had to comment on this ridiculous thread...

Rich - 9 disposals :D

mate, not pumping up the blues because we beat a reserves quality side.

making the point that yarran definitely has more potential than rich, and is almost even with him in their development. yarran has had a great year so far, and will only get better. he'll be a 40+ goal, 40 assist player for years.

add the fact that he has midfield potential, though i dont see him playing a lot there. our midfield is fine, and forward line is the issue. let him play as the lead up half forward. he's quick enough to burn his opponent in open space, and great finishing skills.

i think to say rich has the runs on the board is a little premature. he's played half a good season. for me, this isnt scoring too many runs just yet.
