just wanted use this first page opportunity to not only say that yarran looks so much better tonight but to also pay out

JAKLAUGHING and DELEDIO7 are both delusional douchebags. bla bla bla richmond is going to win by 29points. our midfields are evenly matched but we have advantages in x positions. bla bla bla, you guys are so dumb. your club is so shit.

If Yarran can actually cement a place in the team this year, that's more than enough. I'd be happy if he plays the first 1/3 of the season, get's dropped and work's his way back into the team. I don't think we should expect to see Yarran anywhere near top gear for a couple of seasons yet. patiences patiences patiences

He was bloody fast when putting on forward pressure inside the 50. A couple of times he came out of nowhere, like 20 metres away, and a second later he's laying a tackle. Very good game from him!

I've got to say, particularly to HBF and Gilly, I've had a shit day, in fact week, was ranting and raving at the family when I got home and then I watch Chrissy! He put a smile on my face like this, :D, especially when I thought of those douchebags that wrote him off after his first year, being uprooted across the other side of the country etc. Well done!:thumbsu: Not saying he's there yet, before anyone jumps all over me, but was great to watch the Chris Yarran I know in action tonight.

DANIEL WHO?

When his game adjusts to that of senior football (right now he's too fast for his own good, rather than the game being too fast for him, which is rare as hens teeth tbch, just my opinion as a former sports talent scout (basketball) - wish I could catch on with an AFL team, c'mon Blues!!) he's going to be an out and out star.

Definitely a game changer for the next decade.

Was absolutely precious to see the kid smiling like we've never seen before.

Keep it up Yazza!

Can someone add "toast" to the front of this thread?

One word for mine

YAAAAZZZZLLEEEEET

he was not absolutely unbelievable tonight but geez he showed that Hughes made the right call on pick 6. Unlike some I have always been a Yaxley believer so am tickled pink at the moment.

I don't like comparing a young player to anyone. Please allow Yarran to carve his own identity.

He certainly doesn't need to be compared to someone of the original's (G Ablett Sr) lack of class (off the field).

I too have supported Yarran from the moment I got back to Australia and were able to support the Blues properly again. Kid has a great future, he's going to be an important part of what the team builds for the future.

Ytoo, you are definitely right in your assessment of where Yarran is right now.

He will possibly play 15-18 games for us this season because of his fitness and he will be the better for it.

I think that with another solid pre-season in him, his fitness will really start to be a key feature of his game (possibly head down to where the bad bois did their time in purgatory and do a bit of extra fitness training after the completion of this season) and he will scream past Rich in terms of impact.

At 19, he had the poise to ignore all the dummy leads in the forward line and instead of just bombing it long towards the goal square waited for the right option... and hit Betts on the chest laces out.

I think that at the end of this season, people are going to be talking about Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer and Yarran in the same breath and with some awe in their voices :)

The only thing holding him back is his fitness. Once he has another pre-season under his belt and his body allows him to just do what he wants without blowing up, he is going to be something special...Can't wait

As someone who is on the record as saying it was a mistake not to pick Rich, I will stand by that because I think he is the 2nd best player from that draft long term.

I have never bagged Yarran but to say Rich was a better pick but it is too soon to tell how good Yarran will be.

Last night one moment for me showed what a class player this kid will be. When he stopped inside 50, held the kick and then picked out Gibbs on a short lead - that was absolutely sensational.

Hope this doesn't develop into a Rich / Yarran thread. I've always supported the Yarran pick, because of the club's reason for picking Yaz over Rich - specifically the Blues have a strong midfield at the time of the pick (Judd, Murphy, Gibbs), and were looking for a forward specialist, which is why Yaz was picked. It was also hoped that Yaz would develop into a midfielder later in his career. Rich is viewed as a pure mid.

The other thing that amazes me is how the whole career of a player (both Rich & Yaz, and others for that matter) be judged on their first season alone? Just doesn't make sense

Just wanted to know whether any of you guys still think that your club got it wrong by picking Yarran.

The guy makes the ball talk and is foolishly quick.

Enjoy watching him even though some of you don't deserve him ;)

It seems an obvious comment when we won so nicely, but it seemed Yaz was actually enjoying his footy last night which is great to see.

I remember last season at the Sydney game Fev ripped shreds off him at one stage and I actually felt sorry for the youngster.

Hopefully he continues to enjoy his footy at Carlton :thumbsu:

I must admit, it was nice to see last night, when the ball hit the ground that instead of giving a spray the forwards actually competed and tried to win it back.

It wasn't as weird watching without F as I thought.:thumbsu:

No, never did. Sure, didn't come along as quick as others in the draft (but same came be said for a number of others), and still has a way to go.

But even in his early games, with the seniors and the Bullants, about 3 things stood out: (1) skills, (2) pace, and (3), most importantingly and this will separate him from just about every player in the game, his poise / deception / decision making. This third part is exceptional.

It's all about developing those positives

Yarran did okay, i was impressed.

The ones who know him best, Carlton, West Coast and Freo fans all say he will be star. And the West Aussies have also seen Rich first hand.

I was also blown away by Eddie Betts.
Seemed faster, more urgent, put more pressure on.
Seems he has been hiding in the shadows of that Brisbane guy and is ready to really be dominant small forward. He might have kicked 38 or so last year but last nights game was the most pleased ive been with Eddie in his whole career.
