The Yartapuulti Football Club (Port Adelaide) has unveiled its 2025 First Nations guernsey, designed by AFL legend Gavin Wanganeen.

As a reflection and symbol of club connection and unity, Yartapuulti will wear the same guernsey across both Sir Doug Nicholls Round and AFLW Indigenous Round for the first time.

Our best indigenous guernsey since the 2017 guernsey designed by Nathan Krakouer.

That does make me wonder what a BiB guernsey would look like with two white Vs and a thin slither of teal in between.

All black, just white Vs and a small bit of teal might look pretty good?

Anyone good at editing jumper templates?

I remember standing in line to buy the Jack Cahill jacket, and the merchandise manager(I think?) told me his 2 biggest goals when taking on the job we're getting the Jack Cahill jackets made and getting Gavin to do an Indigenous guernsey and implied that cost was an issue because obviously Gavin is an accomplished and highly regarded artist.

Glad they got it done.

Meh. The sash looks nice, the chevrons are a miss with the indigenous guernseys. Would be nice to have a more abstract guernsey - magpie wings sbs style

I'm a fan of our Aboriginal guernsies. This is probably one of our worst guernsies, and it is still good.

I like that we've gotten Gav in to do this one.

I reckon of the two I like the white one more, but unfortunately neither are anywhere close to my favourite Indigenous Guernsey.

Sometimes with these I think we play it too safe by forcing elements like the chevron in there. I reckon Adelaide probably do these the best and some of theirs really just go wild with it.

I wonder if I'd like it more if it was just the teal Milky way?

I have many of our Indigenous guernseys, and I love that Gav has been asked to design it. I think though there's too much going on here. Chevrons and sash complicate the design, and I think either by themselves would have been great.

Going with just the sash I think would have mixed things up a bit. Something fresh and new for us, to go with next year's new beginning.

Agree, just the sash would have bern much nicer. Its just too busy with the two elements clashing. A thinner sash dropped down a bit to separate would have looked better but these designs uaually have a meaning behind them.

I don't think our somewhat dour colours or the whole 'Power' thing really lend themselves to good Indigenous guernsey designs. The best designs are usually the teams with bright colours that really pop and/or striking animal designs.

I think our colours really lend themselves to this Milky Way idea though. I agree that it’s a bit busy with the V in there, perhaps one big band or two bands of teal/white “stars” would’ve been cleaner. But overall it’s a pretty good effort and I like that it’s all black too for that night sky/universe feel. One of my favourite Port attempts overall.

Agree that the whole Power thing is a barrier to good design

The first thing I thought when I saw these was that they'd be really nice if Gav didn't feel like he had to include the chevrons.

And then the Port website article called them "traditional" chevrons and a spewed up in my mouth a bit

I like our designs, they always try to tell a story simply. The more spectacular guernseys look more like the visual equivalent of a word salad, Hey let's get as many Aboriginal ideas on there as we can! Those ones generally look like tea towels to me.

Lachie Jones's was probably my favourite.
