Word is that Yea has been cleared to enter div 2 next year. heard on another forum. would make sense for the tigers to join alex and thornton considering they are within half an hour of each other.

I would be more than confident that Yea will be in the YVMDFL in 2008. A good addition to the league but still cant understand why they didnt come across last year when their neighbours did.

Great ground too. Good to restart their rivalries with both Alex and Thornton too.

Would the addition of Yea make it more unlikely that Thornton or Alexandra would seek promotion to Div 1 if either won the Div 2 flag this year?

If so, that could save Olinda (or Gembrook!) from relegation at the end of this year.

probably would. i dont think we could go up financially wise but in my opinion it should be automatic for the premier to go up.

I reckon you need a close neighbour for a couple of handy gates each year too. During my time at Yea the best gates each year were obviously the Alex and Thornton games - plus as PRF said they Tiges lost quite a few locals who chose to stay in Melb this year, nobody's fault but the move into the YVMFL means there's every chance such players will return which is great for the folk at Tigerland.

Woori Yallock in Divi 1 wear the tigers colors as well. Going from Yea's results this year it looks like it will be a while before the jumper clash will be an issue though.

Will be good for Divi 2 to have 10 teams again next year (depending on the rumours about South Belly moving to the EFL). Can't understand a lot of the whining that goes on about the travel factor etc as it is only 3 - 4 games out of 18 that the travel to Powelly, Alex, Yea and Thornton is an issue.

I wouldn't read too much into Yea results this year. If they move to the YVMD league I'd imagine they'd get quite a few players back that are currently living in melbourne. If they did, it wouldn't take to long for them to bounce back to their best.

A good addition to the competition but i still can't understand why they chose to head to the Kyabram DFL when their rivals headed South and certainly to a far more promising future compared to what Yea has experienced during the past two seasons. If they had made the move when Alexandra and Thornton did things could have been far different.

And to think, two years ago, all three of these sides first preference was to go to the Kyabram District League (which was solely about the Netball, if it was solely a football decision, they would've all gone with the YVMDFL).

It's amazing how things change so quickly, and how the fortunes of Alexandra & Thornton (great) and Yea (not so great), have been so stark over a period of only 24 months.

I think that they should go pretty well in the YVMDFL, I don't think that they'll win it next year, but you would reckon that if they got their Melbourne based players back, they would at least be competitive.

It's good to see how the Netball Comp. has improved since these new additions and will only get stronger with the addition of the Tigers, and I feel that it really adds something to the atmosphere around the clubs that have Netball teams.

Realistically, Yea could revert to their Richmond colours, but considering that they wore a gold jumper with a black yoke, but to avoid a colour clash, they should stay with the Silver Top Taxi strip they've got now.

From a KDFL perspective, this is a win-win, because we get rid of a side that few KDFL clubs wanted (because of the travel), and Yea get to go to a league that wants them, and should do well in.
