Just wondering who here is in Year 12? Might be able to give each other some support, insights etc etc. What are your plans for next year? Uni courses?

I am doing:
- English
- History
- Geography (Distance Education.. :thumbsd:)
- Further Maths
- Literature
- Religion and Society (We have to do it at our school. Bloody catholics.. I aint even one of them!)

I am hoping to get 80 on my VCE score.

I am planning to go to England for a year next year. If this doesn't happen then I will go straight to Uni in an Urban Planning/Enviromental Geog/Something to do with geog area.

Anyone else?

I did:

Specialist Maths
Chemistry
Math Methods
Geography
English

I got a 40 raw for Geography, think it got scaled down 2... My enter score was average (85). Make sure you do well in English, suck up to your teacher and get good SAC marks. Geography is hard to get a really good mark in as well. I loved geography so I chose to study Geomatics, have a look into that, it might interest you. I didn't do to much work and scraped through, try to prepare for exams before the final weeks ;)

Well compared to my mates who all did IB  the lowest any of them got was 94. I got what I needed to get into my course and didn't turn into a recluse in year 12 either :thumbsu:

year 12 is so unimportant in the scheme of things when you look back on it, at the time your told its the be-all and end-all.

Fair enough.

I wasn't a recluse either. In fact I barely studied for the exams in the end. My reasoning was "as soon as i learn (or revise) something new, it pushes some of the old stuff out of my brain". :D

Hehe, seriously.. no i was happy with my grades in the end. Got an A or A+ in every subject (cept English), or else Bs and a few C+s.

I did year 12 last year. Did Maths Methods in year 11, then:
English
History: Revolutions (French + Russian)
Classical Societies and Cultures (Greece)
Latin
Chemistry

Did pretty well!

Ah year 12, what a holiday it was, finishing assignments the night before, doing enough in school to make my grades look decent, those were the days. Didn't have a very diverse curriculum, being in a small rural school. Fun times, damn, 6 years ago that was.

did year 12 last year

PE, HHD, Further, International studies and english. got 84 which i was happy with.

Year 12 means bugger all in the overall scheme of things, because even if you don't get into your course all it takes is an extra 12 months and you can anyway!!

Goodluck for this year guys.

BTW haywood, IB is for nerds. Id rather my 84 + social life then 94 :thumbsu:

Had to work reasonably hard to get into my course. Pretty happy with going straight into the course too, rather than waiting a year.

Did almost the same subjects last year, just did Physics instead of Chem.
Was on track for a decent score (90+) before sickness cut me down. Still got 86 and got into Engineering at Monash. I also loved Geog, but didn't do that good.
English nearly killed me, sucking up might work!

I'm in yr 11 if that helps.

I'm doing the HSC in NSW (so that doesn't help) and mostly HSIE subjects.

See my subjects:

-English Advanced
-Economics
-Society & Culture
-Community and Family Studies
-Legal Studies
-TAFE (yay for TAFE!!)

Second year out, and **** did I hate Year 12. Sick of school, sick of the chickenshit, sick of Geelong, sick of boring subjects, sick of my life. Did absolutely no work, got an ENTER that by rights was 6 points too low for my course, scrapped in anyway. Now life is absolutely sensational.

Kittenish, my school offered none of these subjects. English Advanced? Is that where you learned phrases like, "by the skin of your nuts"? LOL, you're all right, kid. :thumbsu:

Jester, did you ever consider antibiotics?

Its a while ago now..........did:

Methods (in Yr 11)

Specialist
Chemistry
Physics
English
Chinese

Did ok, ended up with 96.6 but missed out on the course I wanted (Eng/Comm at Melb Uni). Ended up doing Eng/Sci at melb Uni.

Failed 4 subjects in my first 2 years! Thats what beer does to ya!

Ah, Eng. I'm pretty sure I'm going to fail Applied Maths. Got 53% for Maths A, and that's the easy stuff. I sure regret not doing Specialist Maths at school!

Man, engineers, wtf.

There's a saying at Monash: Melb Eng built the Menzies. Words to live by/. If you want to do Eng, go to Monash or Swinburne. Not Melb. I mean, Arts/Law? Yeah, Melb all the way (though there is some doubt about Arts at Melb...but I digress). But engineering? Hella no.
