Thats right, they know a thing or two about it, they also know socialism when they see it, they also value their freedom and culture a far more than many from Western Europe.

They do protest in France at the drop of a hat, I say that having lived here for almost 8 years. In the south they're happy that trains are now running at 70%(up 10% from last week) due to strikes. Low income workers want more money, but don't want to work more than their 35 hours a week(plus 2 hour lunch break) and also don't want any of their social benefits reduced. Some French need to understand it takes more than working 35 hours a week to get what you want.

Protests are about the government trying to reduce the size of government expenditure, i.e. what conservatives usually want them to do.

A good policy in france given they have the most wasteful inefficient public system.
