Had such high expectations for this, but pulled the pin after the second episode of S2.

Too contrived, unlikable characters making constant idiotic decisions, ridiculous s**t constantly happening with minimal consequences.

Crap show.

Would watch

Just watched first ep of new season and not a great start.

That car crash has to be some of the dumbest shit I have seen. The show is entertaining but just constantly has unbelievable crap added into it that just isn’t necessary. The same conclusion could have happened with a heap of believable scenarios but no we have to believe she had no option than to drive herself and instead of stopping or slowing down she's gonna continue to put her foot down and endanger her kid and unborn kid as well as herself and then of course what are the odds that she encounters the only other car she has passed who just happens to be distracted too at the same time an animal is on the road and neither of them noticed the other coming even though they're out in middle of nowhere in the dark with no streetlights so would have been able to see their headlights for ages. Anyway...

The first episode was pretty damn poor.

I’ll watch the second tonight and hope for improvement.

How many scenes did they need to have of John expressing/showing reluctance to take the role of governor. I reckon there were 15 different versions of the same thing. Enough already!

They were significantly better than last season and at least the Wolves being shot gives something to build on.

Carter has suddenly morphed into wat?

The drunk cowboys lassoing each other was creepy lame af

And Jaq Weaver….what are you even doing? Useless character

Carter be this seasons Jimmy. rags to riches

I kindad enjoyed the episodes, parts which i did not scroll through quickly that is haha.

i can see the political machinations at play, which are obvious of course. but then i personally enjoy scenes without the politicing. the team on horseback going after the horse burglars for example. Simple

Sure at times the pacing is off. Suddenly we see a young john dutton flying in to stop a crew from poisoning the land. then the construction boss seemingly covered in the pesticide running to the shower and screaming.

neck minute the GPS collar wrapped around the log conveniently lodges and wedges against another log, signalling its halt. Ominous.

Beth is probably the most polarising character in Tv at the moment

That last scene on the Bar, nothing but viscous disgracefulness
I maintain hope that Jamie kills her then Rip goes totally off tap and kills him (among others).

People like her IRL have a permanent scowl and speak aggressively using short, sharp insults dripping with the verbal thesaurus.

Innocent bystanders are more shocked than scared

I gave up as well in late season 2 or early season 3, not one likeable character, far fetched, what’s the murder count now with no convictions

One of many Idiotic decisions, Rip asks Walker can you drive this car for me, sure despite the guy hating his guts, nah his not up to anything fishy

Wish all the characters ate what those cows ate which killed them off would be a fitting end to the show

WTF has happened to this show?

It’s seriously circling the drain now.

That fight involving Beth and Summer was ridiculous. I was barracking for Summer.

Otherwise, it’s all just brainless repetition of the same scenes over and over. How many times do we see Beth wake up from a dream of how much of a campaigner she is, how many times do we get to hear John complain about being governer, Jaime being a dickhead, Monica cry and complain, Kayce act like a little bitch.

They’ve even emasculated Rip. He’s reduced to being an enabler for Beth.

The mythical crap of the cowboy is getting old too.

This

Look Sons of Anarchy was a bit dumb in spots towards the end but the story kept moving and engaged

This has just become a shadow of season 1 and 2

Spot on. It's like they listened to the minor complaints from the earlier seasons and doubled down on those.

I watched the first episode a fortnight ago and binged the whole thing since - working from home just means find a show and set-and-forget each day. As a farm boy I veer wildly between really liking the simply day to day farm life stuff and then the overdoing of it and the deification of the cowboy etc but based on my experience it’s a real thing so I don’t mind them acknowledging it if they’re trying to portray a real insight into ranching and rural politics in the US.

It’s hard for writers I think to find a mix of reality and story progression: take someone like Jamie for instance and compare him to his namesake in GoT. He had a nice arc from a story perspective in GoT but it’s questionable whether someone as inherently bad as he was could ever actually undergo such a change.

When watching Jamie Dutton fall for the same shit over and over you sort of think ‘you dickhead surely by now you’d learn and change’ but in real life, people often don’t.

I think the show underuses some characters and overuses others. Monica is a breathtakingly boring character and that stupid exchange when Kayce simply said hello to another woman was infuriating.
Someone like Lloyd on the other hand: we have to piece him together with no exposition - why do we know pretty much the entire history of Rip’s past and how he came to be on the ranch and be the character he is now, but we don’t find out the same about Lloyd who has been there even longer?

I like Costner’s character, I think it’s a reasonable reflection albeit exaggerated of the jaded aging entrepreneur trying to keep an empire together and ward off progress.

While I’d like Beth to absolutely destroy me in one respect I would want to push her off a cliff in many others. She’s just a spoiled rich kid used to getting her way more than anything else.

In real life I have a complete hatred for people who can never ever put themselves in someone else’s shoes so her blind loathing of Jamie for something he did from a position he never should have been in, that SHE put him in, pisses me off.

I’ll see it out even if the quality is inconsistent
