The AFL is largely merit based. If you’re out of form or just not up to scratch, you don’t get a game. Period.

The left wants to put people in power who may not necessarily be qualified but apparently deserve to be purely because of their skin color to satisfy the “diversity” criteria.

So if you’re left leaning, you really should stop following AFL.

In actuality, many left-leaning dickheads in this board don’t actually follow football and only post ******** on SRP. I don’t even know why they’re here seeing as this is supposed to be a website about footy.

I’m left leaning and follow football. Wtf are you on about? Its nothing to do with putting people in power to “satisfy the diversity criteria”. It’s to remove discrimination. How is that difficult to understand? Everybody is equal.

Everyone gets a fair chance to make it onto the team, only the best make it onto the team.

There are a lot of white private school boys on AFL lists and a friend of mine pointed out there aren't many Arabic decent players in the league. Does this constitute a discrimination?

No? If you’re not good enough to make it then that’s that. It would be discrimination if they didn’t get picked because they are Arabic. It would also be discrimination if they got picked purely based on that. Like you said, only the best make it. Everybody is equal.

I don't understand how the afl correlates with your political dreams of a zionist utopia. The AFL (or VFL) was originally propped up by the viewer. Only until it gained a national brand did it piss all over the viewer and fall into the hands of your foxtel god. For the majority of it's life the afl has more or less been a communist sport

So supporting a merit-based society is pro-zionist?

Yes, if you're left-leaning you should be DEMANDING more Indians, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Arabs, etc. on your AFL teams regardless of their skill-level. Who cares if they can't play worth a damn. Otherwise, you're a hypocrite who doesn't really support "diversity".

Not me, though. I believe that opportunities should be accorded to those who actually deserve it based on merit. But what do I know? I'm just a racist bigot who should go to "Storm Front" even though I'm not white.

I love Indians Chinese and Vietnamese and especially Arabs. We want more in the AFL whenever we can. The only problem is the current ceo is a white supremacist neo liberal who hates Scott Morrison for knifing Tony Abbott.

I bet the Knights Templar don't even know who you are, and I bet you've never shot any muslims before have you? You call the left hypocrites for not being left enough but are you really right wing?

Talk about tooting your own horn with a glass from stones houses

I'm not sure what your point is. Did you have one?

I love people based on the content of their character, not because they are Indians, Chinese, Vietnamese, or especially Arabs, or dare I say any actions of theirs that would "merit" my "love". I don't care what colour/race they are. But apparently, that makes me a racist. Such irony.

But the AFL doesn't include Chinese people because they're Chinese. It includes Chinese people who are good at football.

It's only conservatives who see it otherwise. This is because they have extremely racist hearts and believe no Chinese people are actually good at football. The moment a conservative sees one Chinese player on an AFL list. They're so racist in disbelief they tell themselves it's because he's Chinese and not talented.

The right believe there's zero talent in other races/genders and believe PC is all one master ruse by the left to treat what they see as lesser races/genders as equal.

We on the left can't help you break through this racism. It's up to you and you only to realize you created this topic as a result of passive racism.

Isnt the AFL an example of enforced equality driving competition?

If salary caps, the draft, the 'football tax' of footy department spending and other equalization measures were removed, the OP might be onto something.

The AFL is anything but a 'merit based' free for all.

Nope. I consider myself right-wing and I believe anyone deserves the right to succeed in any field based on merit regardless of who they are or what their background is. My OP was a dig at left-wingers who believe that those of lesser ability should be afforded opportunities based purely on satisfying the need for "diversity".

And my point was that they would magically be opposed to this if it meant their beloved AFL team would lose games because some spud was running around in the team, getting a game purely because of "diversity", thus exposing their hypocrisy. That is of course assuming they even support AFL because let's face it, a good portion of the idiots posting on SRP are Antifa dickhead losers who don't even follow AFL.

But no one on the left thinks that. I believe passive racism is really conflicting the issue here.

The left thinks minorities equally as talented don't get equal opportunities. No one on the left wants to give unskilled people opportunities they don't deserve simply because they're minorities. That would be racist and sexist.

As I said it's hard trying to explain this to people who believe other races/genders aren't talented and the only reason they get a wage is because of PC. But facts remain some of these people are talented, and just because they're minorities, doesn't mean they deserve to be seen as untalented when they are due to passive racism

But that's not true. Western societies (at least for now) affords opportunities to minorities arguably more than any other societies.

Again, not true. There is no better society for a minority to succeed in based on merit than a western society. All you gotta do is be good enough.

The AFL is socialist with its equalisation policies and salary cap.

Without these, West Coast, Richmond, Collingwood would dominate every year, not just 2018.

Left wingers by the OP logic should hate major European football leagues instead or modern day formula one

Yeah, I mean. I'm only speaking from personal experience. What do I know?
Fox News will always pick minute events and publish them to suit their agenda. Just because they publish a story about a street sign saying "hiring Chinese only" doesn't mean that's the world you live in.

Chinese have been doing that **** here since the 1970's. Fox News cherry pick a few things here and there and a whole generation is at war with the left and in love with their gods Milo Yalapanis and Ben Shapiro.

It's always been happening all their stupid stories are nothing new and are no more prevalent. If Fox decided their agenda was to make war with Japan as opposed to converting every western nation to conservative governments, we'd have the entire population scared ****less right now about subs coming up to Melbourne. Politicians would be talking about manning Point Nepean and not how "the left" are coming to get us

Thats not true though is it?

Did Gina Rhineheart make a billion dollars by being good?

If you're born into poverty, you're more likely to stay there. If you're born into wealth, ditto.

You paint this weird worldview where people are only poor or wealthy due to their own failings or merit. That's simply not the case.

The existence of cronyism and nepotism does not prevent those with the ability or skills from succeeding in a society/system that is otherwise based on merit. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Ok, I agree to a certain extent. The odds may be comparatively against you if you naturally lack the resources to achieve your goals. But again, if you have the drive, ability and skills, you will find a way. The AFL is the perfect example of this. Of course, Antifa losers can't appreciate this because they don't follow AFL and are only on BF to spread communism on SRP.

The AFL is the perfect example of this.
But the AFL is heavily socialised and regulated.

The entire system is based around a plethora of equalization measures.

If the AFL was the Government, everyone would be on the same salary [the salary cap], wouldnt be allowed to invest more than a certain amount (and would be taxed if they did) [Footy Department tax], and would get welfare payments if they didnt do well [the draft].

You must be thinking of the Premier League, which doesnt have any of that stuff, and is a glaring of example of how wealthy clubs can afford to stay on top, and even poor clubs can succeed as long as they have the drive, ability and...

Oh wait.

Why dont those poor clubs succeed in the EPL if all one needs is 'drive, ability and skill'? Why is always the same clubs at the top, and the same ones at the bottom?

Maybe 'drive, ability and skills' dont mean **** when the system you're working in favors the already wealthy, and Laws and Regulations that create a more equal society (sliding tax scales, welfare etc) actually encourage competition, and provide a fairer system.
