I won't go as far as to stick up for Essendon or even contemplate it. I find the more you say the harder it comes back and bites you (right @#$% Elliott). Everybody has their day in the sun. The thing about making bold statements is you have no room to maneouvre should things start to go wrong.
I'm hoping that is the case with the Bombers.

Until then, this is absolute drivel coming from a Crows fans. They massively over-achieved to win the two premierships and have under-achieved massively since. You have no idea what it is like to be the best side all year and then feel the intense relief when you pull of the big one (NO, not that big one fool, hands back on the keyboard!) When you do that and are clearly the best in any given season, come back and try again.

I for one had to endure two GF parties at the Shepherd's Bush Walkabout in 97 and 98 where I was supporting the Sainters and North respectively and had to live with the most phenomenal about of BS arrogance from the resident Crow fans.... your fans wrote the book on the subject...


That said, I for one was very, very happy to see Blight finally win something (but not two)...

I don't think we're that arrogant either - I still remember the Blues theme being looped around the office PA for two hours in 95 by the blue-blood management (no offence Old Dark Navy Dude).

Similar in many ways to Round 18 1998, when Silvagni kicked to Lucas and Lucas put us in front after being 20 odd points down 10 mintues earlier. The roar was unbelievable.....

No idea on that one Mr Ripper. Never saw the game. I was out bush listening to the radio at the time. Probably not much time at all I suspect. When a team gets a roll on the umpires tend to go with the crowd reactions.

I do remember though Dan, that we won the flag in 1981 so it didn't really matter how many you won in a row. Still, things like that really stay with you don't they? Hey, What was this topic again?

Try telling Essendon and Carlton fans that that the Round 20 1981 result didn't matter.

A footy season is made up of hundreds of moments. The Grand Final is just one of them.

My favourite matches, believe it or not, were not GF wins. GF wins were great, but in terms of pure enjoyment, it was hard to go past the 1998 Ess-Blues game, where Silvagni stuffed up, kicked it to Lucas and the crowd went ape-shit.

The GF wins are great, in that they cap of the season, but the matches themselves are often boring. To me, it's the FA Cup of the footy season. It "often" doesn't go to the best team.
