City vs Leicester. City couldn't break them down, so out of pure desperation, Kompany takes a shot...boom...goal. And what a goal!

For 24 hours the football world was buzzing about it. And Kompany was loving life. For 24 hours he was the talk of the football world, credited with taking City to the brink of the prem league title, people talked about him being the inspirational leader, everyone was pumping City up with its backs to the wall mumbo jumbo and basically everyone was talking about his goal. That goal. He himself even got caught up in the hype and stated, in his post-match presser with his smile beaming from ear to ear, that he had been planning to score like that for 15 years.

For 24 hours.

Then 4-0 vs Barcelona at Anfield happened and it was literally a case of hold my beer. The Kompany/City buzz came to a screaming halt. Suddenly it was Vincent who?

It's history now that City went on to win the prem but since Madrid you'd be forgiven for thinking that Liverpool did. Had Barca scored 1 goal at Anfield, just 1, had Big Divi not scored a brace, had TAA not had the foresight to catch a plastic team of champions napping, people would still be talking about Kompany's wonder goal, even now, 6 weeks on. You can't help but feel that Kompany was robbed of more time being the centre of attention.

But not to be. Instead Kompany has quit City, probably because he can't handle being in Liverpool's giant shadow, his team pulled out the Community Shield and posed with it so as to make it seem like they won the quadruple and Pep will tell anyone who is willing to listen to him about why winning the prem is a lot harder than winning the Champions League, even though his prem league strike rate at City is 2 from 3 and his champs league strike rate is 0 from 3.

It was a monumental week, and the CL semi's did take the spotlight away from the Kompany goal at the time.

But that goal and its significance will never ever be forgotten. It was an absolute humdinger. Dare I say that with the passage of time, posters might have to be reminded that the subsequent CL semi's also happeend the same week.
