Sam Newman is way too immature for the footy show. Sure he maybe funny to some people but he can be rather childish as well. He likes to push the boundaries with everything and goes too far with the jokes.
What he did when he was talking about Caro's dress sense was actually very dumb and very low, especially when we have seen him come on the show dressed like Eddie Maguire, or somebody else.
About time he grew up and started talking about footy instead of acting like an arsewipe on the show and causing trouble.

I can't believe that people compare what Sam did to Caro with the jokes about gary being hairy, JB being gay, and Billy being fat.
You do realize that it's scripted don't you. That every week they have a couple of production meetings at which they set the script for the weeks show. Garry knows the hairy jokes are coming, he knows they are gonna show the stretcher footage again, Billy knows the fat jokes are coming and JB probably writes the stuff about him being gay himself; it's all on the f...ing running sheet.

Oh great !! ..now all you need to do is tell these kiddies on here that there is no santa claus or tooth fairy and you will have shattered all their childish delusions . :D

Yeah sorry, my bad. I take it all back. It's totally improvised and Trevor Marmalade is the greatest comedian in the history of entertainment.

Well said - horrible hypocritical arrogant fem(ale chauv)inist piglet.
I always found Sam pretty amusing at times but also sometimes quite annoying, but for the first time I have deep respect for the bloke - to stand up to all the PC pressure and refuse to apologise or back down, but on top of that to stay on the offensive witgh stuff like "Newman continued to antagonise, saying the signatories to the letter were "liars and hypocrites" and that female board members in football served "very little purpose" ". He's perfectly correct of course, swhat use is it to have people running the club (regardless of sex) who have never played the game? There might be exceptions, but very few. And the signatories, like almost all fem(ale chauv)inists, are indeed liars and hypocrites.
His integrity and guts are a very rare thing unfortunately. A more typical reaction is the grovelling onscreen retraction and apologies of Gary Lyon, for whom many will now have lost all respect.
What's really bad is that those sort of scum are running our once-great country now which allows them to get away with disgusting acts of PC censorship like this and of course the constant PC brainwashing on the multi-national controlled media which has mostly destroyed the Australian character and individuality. Just look at all the PC sucks on big footy for eg.

They really have people believing that they are doing this stuff for moral reasons. The real reasons are to bring us to our knees, to emasculate us so that they can have total power and enslavement over us. These are not moral people at all, they are immoral crazies, and turds like Wilson are their willing puppets who are gleefully and self-righteously counting their 7 million pieces of silver. The other types that join the chorus (eg a lot of characters on BF) are similar, they just are reaping much more modest rewards for pushing the feminist and other PC lines and it gives females power over gullible men (which unfortunately may be most men these days), and the "male feminists" a pat on the head from some women and maybe even occasional sex, plus approval from the sucky corporate world.

Are you for real?

I can't believe that neanderthals still exist in the 21st century.

I think you just did that. What a horrible thing to do. If this website becomes an R18+ site, I'll know why. I really hope that little kids don't read this stuff, it could break their hearts.:(

Sam Newman goes for dummy stunt

Amanda Meade | May 29, 2008

THE Nine Network has dropped Sam Newman from the AFL's Footy Show and ordered him to undergo counselling two months after a notorious stunt in which he manhandled a lingerie-clad mannequin on air.

The managing director of Melbourne's GTV-9, Jeffrey Browne, yesterday stood Newman down indefinitely, saying he was not fully recovered from his prostate cancer operation and needed complete rest.

Browne told Nine's Melbourne staff that Newman, 62, had been diagnosed earlier this year with a life-threatening illness and post-operatively was still suffering from "underlying emotional issues" such as depression.

The move to dump Newman is one of the first examples of advertiser concerns influencing on-air programming.

ANZ bank was the first to withdraw advertising from The Footy Show in an apparent protest against its attitude towards women.

Then this week another of the program's main advertisers, the Crazy John's mobile phone company, expressed serious concern about the show's attitudes to women. Crazy John's is 75 per cent owned by Patricia Ilhan, the widow of founder John Ilhan.

Sources said Newman infuriated Nine's management with his refusal to accept his behaviour is offensive.

"He looks unwell and appears to have lost his way," a source said last night.

The network suffered eight weeks of bad press after Newman dressed a mannequin as The Age's chief football writer Caroline Wilson and proceeded to make offensive remarks and gestures. Despite the outcry, Nine stuck by Newman in the belief he was too valuable to the Footy Show. At the Logies earlier this month the audience booed when the Footy Show was given an award. Even when a group of the AFL's most influential women, including the female directors of top football clubs, signed a letter of complaint to Nine chief executive David Gyngell, the network kept Newman on air.

Newman continued to antagonise, saying the signatories to the letter were "liars and hypocrites" and that female board members in football served "very little purpose".

Browne now believes management made a mistake in letting Newman back on air so soon after his operation.

A source said his health had "plainly been a factor in his behaviour".

In March, Newman underwent radical surgery to remove his cancerous prostate in a Melbourne hospital in March.

Nine's 60 Minutes ran a piece reported by Newman's great mate Eddie McGuire on the surgery.

But when he returned to the Footy Show soon after the operation, he decorated a mannequin with a picture of Wilson's face and dressed it in a bra and panties.

Newman explained the stunt by saying he was offering Wilson some advice on what to wear on her spot on Nine's Monday football show, Footy Classified.

Wilson said she felt degraded and many commentators and advertisers agreed. TV ratings for The Footy Show have also fallen since the Newman stunt.

Last week's program was watched by an average audience of 380,000 people, which was down 15 per cent on the average audience the week before the stunt took place, when 457,000 people tuned in.

Newman was also dumped by Triple M Radio midway through the 2006 season for being "too negative" towards the modern game and has not worked on radio since.
Nope it was because he called a caller a ____wit.
