Be angry, Be hurt but if you think cancelling memberships is going to help the club go forward then you have no idea. You will just be contributing to the down fall of the club.

They are mostly threats. A negotiating tool after the worst trading season in AFL histry. You are over-reacting.

This. Would never cancel my membership but so frustrating knowing we have wasted precious millions of dollars on these player contracts and are still wasting millions of dollars on staff wages that are clearly not up to the standards required.
What hurts most is the dishonest spin from the club. This decision was purely motivated by our cap mismanagement. It's got nothing to do with getting back into the draft or list sizes. The evidence for this is clear:
1. We got one first round pick for four players!
2. We have retained players with far less ability

It is time for the club to tell the truth to its members.

Up there with the worst threads/OP's in my time on BigFooty.

Why because someone has the audacity to challenge the rubbish that is being dished out by some Collingwood supporters? Oh let’s protest, let’s burn our memberships. Let’s completely destroy a club.

I agree fully. Something in me has broken by the clubs handlings of these events and the total disregard they have shown towards supporters.

Classic stories. My father is on here. He saw 35/36 and 53/58
My dad was at the 58 grand final. He passed away one month after the 2018 loss. At least he doesn't have to witness our current demise.

My dad passed away in May. He was a life long supporter. he last game he saw was the Rnd 1 demolition of the Doggies. Thats about the only thing thats made me half smile this week.

This from someone closer to the club than anyone of us will ever be

‘Mate when 20 plus players continuously go to the coach and admin with the same problems about two players the club had to act. They were destabilising the team. They had to go’
I understand you love the club as much as any of us, but these sorts of allegations from anonymous sources don't help. Let's stick to what we know as fact, and demand the leaders of our club tell the truth.

It is an absolute disgrace the way some of you are carrying on about cancelling memberships or not renewing them. You should be ashamed and to be honest we don’t want you as Collingwood supporters. You stick with your club through thick and thin.
Interestingly half of you spend your time in match day threads bagging Trealor’s disposal and defensive skills and now that he is gone you would reckon he was Bob Rose. Stephenson has been canned all year for lack of intensity, making ridiculous decisions and not being hard enough. Now suddenly he is John Greening. Tom Philips who has been mercilessly ridiculed during the year is suddenly the great Peter Daicos who can produce magic in the midfield and go forward and tear the heart out of the game. To be honest we just removed three bits of deadwood that is stopping us going the next step. Last night was the best thing to happen to the club. As for you hypocritical fair weather ‘dogs’. Go elsewhere. Not only will I renew my membership but I will up my sponsorship. Floreat Pica.

I'm not cancelling my membership, but you are totally missing the point.

I hope you folks understand that there's a very high likelihood that McGuire-Buckley agents are working inside media over which they have little control (bigfooty.com). The typical spin tactic is to employ elaborate smear campaigns against the targets who have acquired supporter empathy, resulting in an uprising of dissent against the entrenched power structure.

Don't fall for it people, you have been treated like suckers long enough. You're getting "spun". Again.

We understand exactly what is happening thanks.

Time will tell if theres any truth in the rumours of Treloar and Stephenson being destabilising figures, and to what extent. We know who to trust and who to disregard on this board.

In the meantime, North and the Dogs have got bargains, until proven otherwise. Hawks also have got a bargain although Phillips is a different case, being a solid citizen with no questions over his character.

Good. We have club agents working inside our bigfooty.com board also. Despite it's obvious shortcomings, bigfooty.com is one of the few places where the fans can assemble & organise in a relatively free thinking environment, and "they" don't like it. They have the club media, television media, radio media & newspapers, but they cannot control this place.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad as well.

Can someone explain to me why they are lying about the whole thing?

If they just came out and explaining what they did and the reasons for it, it would have smoothed things over. But to blatantly lie and deflect, is essentially taking the supporters for idiots. Whose idea was it to lie about it all? And who thought it was a good idea?

And why did buckley think it was a good idea to, instead of explain the situation to treloar, stephenson etc, make up bullshit about how the other players want them to gtfo etc.

Seriously this was one of the worst handled situations i reckon i have seen in a long time. You all have a right to be angry.

My old man went in March. Lifelong Pie, was at the 58/53 GF. Played FF for Horsham in the Wimmera and had a pre season at Collingwood in the 50's. Used to tell us of being picked up by Ron and Lou Richards at the Shakespeare Hotel in NM where he was staying while in Melb. Didn't get picked up obviously as I would have been living on that in these pages.

His other story was the advice he got from Bob Syme, ex Essendon and Horsham coach at the time. Before he left to come for the pre season Syme told him to make sure he made an impression. Told him there will be a "possibles v probables" pick up match early on and that was a great time to get noticed. Suggested something like knocking out Thorold Merrett in the game would do the trick. Dad thought it was good advice at least to the extent it would have got attention.

I feel like this would have been better delivered without the emotive language. Despite this, I whole heartedly agree.

People need to however express their disappointment, this keeps the administrators on their toes. This should not however result in withdrawing support for the club...if anything the club needs us more than ever.

The reality is not one poster knows the truth and the reasons for what transpired, sure it’s obvious that we were shortchanged at the trade table... but if we were forced into that situation to remedy errors of the past (cap space mismanagement or removal of players that are not a good fit), then that’s ok. It takes courage to do that, sunk costs are sunk costs...there is nothing that can be done about mistakes in the past.

I believe Buckley carries himself with a great deal of integrity and honesty and I’ll believe him above anybody else in this situation. I’ve said all along I didn’t think this was solely cap driven, the figures the media were putting out were just not possible. Salary dumping and then not bringing anybody ‘big’ further reinforces that point. As the OP stated, and as I have pointed out countless times this season... Stephenson is a lost cause, I would have hoped we’d get more for him but he’s gone and that’s no loss. Same with Phillips. Treloar has his detractors game day, every week...now that he’s gone everybody is up in arms...yes we should have got more, but this was a mess created well before trade period. The one that stung me most was the loss of Atu, I thought he showed great promise.

Too many of you flip and flop every time the wind changes direction, the media is not our friend. It wasn’t when hitler used it to control the masses, nor was it when Bush and Obama used it to justify the destruction of the Middle East. Have any of you had staff leave disgruntled? Or anybody wrongfully accuse you of mistreating them...there are always two sides to the story.

Because it would mean someone or someone’s had made huge mistakes regarding contracts, player evaluations, coaching etc and none of them have the balls for that or too admit to mistakes.
So they collectively shove so much blatant rubbish down our throats and hope for the best.
There appears to be very little accountability in our club.

They are lying because they dont (at this stage) want to disclose exactly

1. Their salary cap situation, and whether its resolved or whether there are more headwinds in 2021 and beyond
2. How much they are subsidising these players salaries for and for how long
3. What exactly caused the irrepairable breakdown in relationship between club and players
4. How much they have to pay Beams out and how this has exacterbated the cap problem
5. Who is to blame
6. Will anybody take the fall for this.
7. What they are going to do with pick 14 which is basically useless to Collingwood and will get burned on Reef McInnes

There is no explanation, we are all irate and impotent at the same time. Time up for Eddie and Bucks for me and I love them both, well Bucks at least

This and these types of stories are why I love our club. Thanks for sharing guys
