Did Keane and Pobga get given opportunities?

The only one thats annoyed me is Bertrand. Should be our starting LB. Im not saying our academy is great, but its also not as bad as some make out and it does seem to be bearing more fruit than ever before. We just need to use it.
Pogba did but he had unrealistic expectations. i.e. 1st team regular at 18. Keane was u lucky that LVG was a dh

Why not Ake?

Hes gone out to 2 Prem clubs and won and held a starting spot and performed good enough to get recalled. Hes easily a success.
i thought we were talking about 1st team regulars who were good enough for top 6 clubs.

I think he is. I wont be surprised if he makes a spot in defence his own next season. With the extra games we'll have next season he'll get plenty of chances.

It's all a bit pointless this debate. Chelsea supporters and City supporters all want to see more kids coming through to the first team.

But it's a first team issue, not an academy issue. It may be an academy issue in the future if prospects don't want to go to those clubs in the future. But for now, not so much.

For me, the Chelsea academy is the standout in the country. The quality of players they are producing is consistently outstanding.

We're a bit behind. Still probably two or three years until our top prospects are ready to make siginificant contributions at first team level.

For me, no-one else is close.

If people think otherwise, so be it.

Yeah, we're pretty easy team to break into atm:D

He'd be good enough to get regular games at other top 6 clubs imo. His time will come.
ok. I think you are delusional if you are comparing pogba and Christensen to ake but ok.

City and Chelsea are the hype. So much talk. So few results.
Results is exactly what they've achieved to date. Youth football results. In terms of senior footballers who is actually out there playing top flight football at top clubs other than Christriansen? Ake was a mid-table regular / top-6 squad player I'd say that's a pass as much as Harry Winks or Onomah are currently for us. Who have City got out on loan that looks like to be a top 6 player? Oh forgot Ihaenacho. Is Denyear still on their books? From what I've seen of him at Sunderland he'll be a Livermore type.

2015 FA Youth Cup final sides below

Chelsea (4-3-3): 1 Bradley Collins; 2 Ola Aina, 3 Fikayo Tomori, 4 Jake Clarke-Salter, 6 Jay Dasilva; 10 Jeremie Boga, 6 Charlie Colkett (c), 8 Charly Musonda; 7 Tammy Abraham, 9 Dominic Solanke, 11 Isaiah Brown

Manchester City (4-5-1): 1 Christian Kjetil Haug; 2 Pablo Maffeo, 4 Tosin Adarabioyo (c ), , 3 Cameron Humphries-Grant, 5 Jose Tasande; 7 Aron Nemane, 6 Kean Bryan, 8 Marcus Wood, 10 Bersant Celina, 11 Brandon Barker; 9 Kelechi Iheanacho

Just the 1 out of the 22 starters has gone on at their club. Tammy will I think go on with it but he could also do a Bamford if handled poorly the next couple of years.

Go back to the 2014 final sides and its hardly any better

Chelsea (4-3-3) 1 Mitchell Beeney, 2 Fankaty Dabo, 3 Andreas Christensen, 4 Clarke-Salter, 5 Jay DaSilva, 6 Jordan Houghton, 7 Kasey Palmer, 8 Ruben Loftus-Cheek, 9 Dominic Solanke, 10 Charlie Colkett, 11 Charly Musonda

Fulham 1 Marek Rodak, 2 Ryeem Sheckleford, 3 Jordan Evans, 4 Liam Donnelly, 5 Cameron Burgess, 6 Soloman Sambou, 7 Dean O’Halloran, 8 Emerson Hyndman, 9 Moussa Dembele, 10 Patrick Roberts, 11 George Williams

Would interesting to put up Uniteds, Sotons, Spurs etc team in those periods as comparisons.

Im expecting not a heap of anyones academies go on to become first team regulars and they are mostly squad fillers.

From our 2014 FA Youth Cup game against Fulham

Spurs: McGee; Walker-Peters, Carter-Vickers, Lesniak, Ogilvie; Onomah, Miller (Pritchard, 87), Winks; Sonupe (Georgiou, 63), Harrison (Akindayini, 78), Oduwa. Unused subs: Priestley, Vincent-Young.

Those 3 are in the first team squad. Walker-Peters would have been 15 or 16 in that game and will become a 1st team player within a year or two.

Manchester City (4-5-1): 1 Christian Kjetil Haug; 2 Pablo Maffeo, 4 Tosin Adarabioyo (c ), , 3 Cameron Humphries-Grant, 5 Jose Tasande; 7 Aron Nemane, 6 Kean Bryan, 8 Marcus Wood, 10 Bersant Celina, 11 Brandon Barker; 9 Kelechi Iheanacho

10 of ours are still at the club. U23's or on loan. 6 have made at least 1 senior appearance for the club. 2 have made their senior international debut. All very young though.

In your best assessment how many of those still at the club will get a chance next year to be in your 25 man squad?
