Surely you take more kids, isnt it a 40 man strong squad that you take on these tours? I think that's how it is on FM.

I assume we will be taking plenty of kids with us to America. Woodburn, Brannagan, Ejaria, Randall, Kent, Alexander-Arnold, Chirivella. Actually that's only seven kids.

A lot of the other guys are fringe players or older guys like Wisdom, Ilori, Stewart, B.Smith etc.

Then there are kids like Ojo, Grujic, Origi, Markovic who are still very young, but probably in the first team plans. I cant wait to see who goes on the US tour, it's always a big indicator on who the manager rates amongst the kids and who might get a chance to break through this coming season.

It also lets you know who is out the door.
Where is Brad Smith at in terms of his Liverpool career, jod? Does he have a legitimate chance of making it there or are the recent rumours about you guys looking everywhere for a LB likely to spell the end of his career on Merseyside? I would have have thought that if he couldn't get ahead of Moreno on a more regular basis last season then it wouldn't be a good sign for his future at Liverpool and the regard that he is held in by the coaches.

I read something about him possibly goign on loan to Huddersfield but at this stage of his career I would think that he's probably better off looking for a permanent move to the Championship, or maybe even lower Prem, to play regularly and be a part of a managers or teams long term plans.

From everything I have read we are in the market for a LB. Klopp also apparently rates Moreno and wants to coach him to become better. So that doesnt leave a lot of room for Smith unfortunately. I dont think he will make it as Liverpool but he's a good player.

I could see him doing a job for a lower PL side or a Championship outfit. Excellent crosser of the ball.

United have signed England U18's winger Joshua Bohui from Brentford.

Brentford is an interesting one. Shut down their academy and released all their players I think. We've got one from there, Poveda is supposed to be very good.

Looks like your lot will have pretty much a brand new team at U18 level. Seems to have bought a lot mainly in that age group.

Yeah, I think we only retained 8 from our U18 team and a similar number from our U16's. Lost of new faces and a couple more deals at both age groups are on the verge of being announced.

There's a lot of restructuring going on at the club this summer.

U21s is now the U23s.

I think this is a bad thing. At 21, 22, 23 young footballers shouldn't be hanging around playing reserves football. Out on loan, with the senior team or sold is the only decent options. Not sure how we'll go with this as we've already pretty much confirmed our U18's would be moving up as a group to the U21's. Might be a step too far now.

On the other hand it gives players possibly 2 more years to prove themselves at their club. GKs and growing CBs should benefit the most out of it.

that young chelsea player that people thought went to spurs apparently was spotted playing for arsenal's u/18. rumour is theyre throwing big money lately cos they feel theyre really falling behind

Nya Kirby. I've read that he's trained at a number of clubs but is asking for a ridiculous amount of money for a 16 year old to sign.

What could have been....

Who would have known that one would turn out to be better at Dab University than football, one would walk out because you preferred a 63 year old retired midfielder to him, and one would be an exception to the rule that people will always overlook how much of a w***er you are if you can kick a football.

Ruhr Cup on atm, some of the top youth teams about.

We've played out two matches today, drew with Schalke and beat Leverkusen.

Dippers kicking off in the next hour, their group has Benfica, Dortmund and SIPG Shanghai in it.

Yeah, 20 minute halves a bit odd. Think they play a bit longer as they get to the final stages. I guess only way to fit in the two matches a day.

Anyway, the other group have played 3 games so far, finished 0-0 in all of them. Benfica v Liverpool coming up shortly the last game of the day.

Tahith Chong with the best attacker award.

United entered the Otten Cup for the first time this year. It's an U19 cup involving United, Barca, PSG, PSV, Anderlecht, Borussia Moenchengladbach and Chivas. United got through to the final where we lost a penalty shootout in controversial fashion. Anderlecht had a player sent off. Under the rules of the comp, if you have an outfield player sent off, the oppo can only use 9 outfield players in a penalty shootout. So our keeper missed the 10th peno, there's scored, and Indy Boonen, our AM, wasn't allowed to take one hahaha

Gribbin, Gomes and Chong were United's best with Gribbin beating anywhere between 4 and 6 players for his solo goal against Barca. Looks like Butty and Joyce have sorted out his attitude problems this year.
