I havent caught up with this thread for a while so sorry for quoting old posts.

But not sure I agree with this, at least internally at Spurs. Reportedly Pochettino rates Winks as the highest of the 18-21 batch to come through, whereas the opposite might be true of Edwards. He's regularly been considered one of the best of his age in the country but apparently Pochettino has concerns over his workrate and attitude. It's even been said by youth watchers that he may even rate another young guy who plays in a similar position, Sam Shashoua, who was on our bench in the last couple of games of the season, higher. There's also a possible impasse over his contract situation atm. He's got 1 year left and reportedly he doesn't want to sign without more game time and we won't give him more time until he signs. Similar to the Mios Veljkovic situation. Apparently he also knows that he could earn a lot more money elsewhere, even as a youth player. There's been murmers for about a year now that he's unhappy with the wage cap at Spurs with his mates and international teammates at other clubs earning 20k+ at the same age. Apparently this is the reason he hasn't been included on our pre-season trip to the US as well, so it's not looking good on that front atm.

Agree that it remains to be seen whether Winks can cement himself as a first 11 player for a top 4 side or whether he'll be just a squaddie, but his performances last season are promising in this respect imo. He's got a lot more to him than Mason and Carroll though. Not quality wise, obviously, but stylistically he's the closest thing we'll see to Modric back at Spurs. Whereas Onomah is definitely Dembele like but apparently there are concerns over his tactical and positional discipline in CM and that's why he's mainly been played, without much success tbf, further forward. Interesting to see whether we sign another CM this window or rely on Winks, and perhaps Onomah to be rotational options with Dembele.

In other youth news, apparently Jadon Sancho at City has rejected a new contract and wants to move back to London for personal reasons and because he doesn't believe there is a path to the first team for him at City, with Arsenal and Spurs the main options. Considering our rigid wage cap for youth footballers I think it's most likely he ends up at Arsenal. I've never seen him play but youth watchers on a Spurs forum I'm on are extremly excited by this link and consider him a seriously special talent.

Angel Gomes and Jadon Sancho are the 2 highest rated players in their age group by a fair way...and also best mates

kangaspurs

the youf on the tour "Brandon Austin, Jaden Brown, Jon Dinzeyi, Will Miller, Tashan Oakley-Boothe and Alfie Whiteman" apart from the keeper whiteman i haven't heard that there's high hopes for any of them. think they've just taken over the guys who didn't have youf england football and were fully fit

Oakley-Booth is supposed to be one of the biggest talents to come though in a long time. Not sure about many of the others. Apparently Jaden Brown wasn't thought highly of initially but had a really impressive season in the u23s last season at LB. I like Will Miller, but he'll almost certainly end up a League 1/2 journeyman.

Guessing you read Windy's thoughts on why Edwards wasn't there?

Think there's a bit too much panic with him tbh. Someone commented on his post saying in the after game interviews from the u19 final he said he'll have a couple of weeks off before he starts pre season. Also interesting to note he wasn't in the squad that played Cambridge United so it does fall into line that he is on a break

Not yet. Will do today. Did he post the link on his Twitter?

Facebook.

The comments on there was where I got the bit about his post game interview. Just read a match report of Cambridge United friendly and saw he wasn't in the squad.

He is either completely being frozen out or is on a break.

TAA playing very well in pre-season. Starting all the games as Clyne has battled with fitness.

Super talent.

Woodburn also playing, deeper too in midfield. Has all the tools.

Those two are still the shining lights of our youth players. Kent has played well in pre season too.

Big wraps on Rhian Brewster too. 17 year old striker.

He's far better than the scouse Cafu. Plus if Kyle Walker is worth 50. Then yeah he will save us a ton of money. :)
Well this is awkward, clearly pay that little attention that I was unaware that is what Flanagan is known as :$
I meant it as you're that much in love with this kid you make it sound like he's the second coming of Cafu ;)

Lot gone on at our academy over the past few months. Not sure whats gone on with Sancho but seems pretty serious. Not sure thats going to be resolved.

As a result he's not on our pre season tour which is fair enough. Foden and Brahim are, thought Foden in particular was great the other night. Duhaney, Latibeaudiere and Tyreke Wilson have joined the tour in the past few days.

Looking forward to seeing Tommy Doyle join up with the U18's. Grandson of two City legends (Mike Doyle and Glyn Pardoe) and making the step up despite being an U16 still.

With NAC Breda and Girona both being promoted we'll have a lot of our kids playing top flight football next season. 4 or 5 at NAC and apparently 6 or 7 at Girona. Will be great to see how they go.

What's Sancho like?

Very direct. Very quick. Lots of skill. Beats players for fun. Good shot, good end product. Bit inconsistent but he's a 16/17 year old playing in the U18's and U23's and holding his own most weeks.

Been talked of for a while as one of three (Foden, Brahim and him) that will be fastracked into the first team in the next couple of years.

Not sure Spurs or Arsenal would pay what he wants or give him much senior football at this stage. My money is on Chelsea if he does go.

Ohhh hahah. But yeah I do like him. Super young talent. Will save us heaps of money.

Arsenal v Benfica last night

Portuguese newspaper Mais Futebol's headline on Arsenal's win over Benfica today: "Reiss Nelson is 17 & he destroyed Eliseu."

I have no idea how to link things off twitter.

Supposedly Arsenal are into him big time. Not surprising as we have dramatically re-vamped our failing youth team over the last 18 months. Don't know how true it is though.
