This boy has talent. He is going to be an important player for us over the next 10 years. Early call: Future captain?

Yep.. played brilliant tonight... felt very safe when the ball was in his hands... his work rate is great, his tackles are superb, and he was pretty effective. Great kid and yeah maybe future captain way down the track:thumbsu:

Great to see fans from other teams rating Gilbert so highly. Another good pick up by beveridge.

A positive we can take from the injuries perhaps??

Yeah, spot on Punter. We need to use this time to discover the talents we have coming through, coz once RL gets the list right we're going to be very hard to beat.

Actually he's been playing very well since his debut. I have yet to watch this last game, but I would bet he was even better than the rounds before. Every game he has improved, and he is grabbing the chance of playing week in week out as Punter said.

From last week's game against Hawthorn and although we lost, I must say I also liked Sweeney. Howard looked a little bit lost and like he needed more time in the VFL.

Extremely impressed with Gilbert's game.

With his obvious athleticism he looks like he could develop into a future key position player. Should be even better as he gains more experience and benefits from another couple of pre-seasons in the gym.

What I loved tonight and over the past few games is his tackling. He not only attempts a lot of tackles but he makes them stick.

Agree with all your posts.

This guy has something that a lot of our big guys dont have - athleticism.
Lets face it, its crucial in the modern game to be agile, to be able play in a few different positions and this guy can.

So far he ticks all the boxes : can run, can play both attack and defence, hes 194cm, can be a '70m player' (run 20 kick 50).

I look forward to continuing to see him blossom under RL's tutelage.

Yea, i'm impressed with Gilbert. I didn't see Mitch Clarkes game for Brisbane, but Gilbert deserved a rising star nomination this week. Was one of the saints best on Friday night.

If he will play out the rest of the season wouldn't that mean he's secured his spot?

we have a number of injurys that seem to be indefinite or season ending.
No kidding? I hadn't heard that! lol. I agree with what you are saying, although I think by the time some of these guys get back, Gilgert will have cemented his spot and be an important link player.
