both results werent flukes, the best team won on both occasions

chris judd was the best on ground in a midfield role and it couldnt win them the grand final, thats my point

lol run of the mill spine, 2 AA players in cox and glass with a player like hunter who is hot property and a major cog like hansen really ordinary

who said skills and run wasnt important? you can have all of that but you dont need to be 70kgs and have a 2.8 for 20m next to your name

get a bloody clue mate
spot on hunter glass and graham gave wce height strength and versatility thru 2006 graham was unlucky to miss the gf. throw in lynch hansen and embly up forward as the 3rd tall option it makes wce a well rounded very good defensive side. all good sides have to have good good midfielders onballers the top 4 or 6 sides do. it s what got them to finals but its usually only the well rounded sides that go on to win gf.

im over this thread but just need to show another example

stkilda vs dogs late in the season

gun kpp vs sexy run a carry football

laughable

Disagree.

See, people like using the Doggies as an example but simply they shouldn't be turmed 'average' because they are not average - they are shytehouse.

WCE have an average KPP group
Saints very good.
Dogs very bad.

top rate - sexy run a carry football + **** KPP (Doggies now) = :thumbsd:
top rate - sexy run a carry football + 'average' KPP (Richmond future) = :thumbsu:

forget about the swans and eagles they have quality all over

saints v dogs was a good example because brad johnson kicked 6 and the dogs still had no hope, saints are a much better team just had a rubbish ruck division and even more rubbish coach which wasted harvey and gehrig's best years

lol at the dogs thinking macdougall will be their savior and recruiting more sticks in the draft

as good a season they had if we had beaten them once we wouldve been equal on points, and thats with 2 superstars like west and johnson in career best years compared to our average senior players

i reckon we will be better than the dogs but hawks will beat them both

You used the Dogs/Saint game - why not look at the Melbourne/Saints elimination final.

Both side have middle of the road KPP, Saints have great KPP but were injury affected.

Melbourne have average KPP. Matthew Bate (14 touches, 1 goal), Ben Holland (13, no goal), Jared Rivers (12, 0), Brad Miller (11, 1) is a fairly poor group. David Neitz is the only decent big man.

Riewoldt, Koschitzke, Gehrig, Hamill, Hudghton, Goddard clearly being the strong group.

And yet the Dees thumped the Saints via a midfeild that was hard at the ball (McLean,McDonald) and offered good run starting on the half back line (Green, Bruce, Johnstone, Yze). came out on top.

Perhaps we'll have to agree to disagree if you consiter Seaby, Gardiner, Gaspar, Staker, Graham, Jolly, Chambers, LRT, Richards and co. 'quailty'.

Hall is a star. Ditto Cox.

Fact is neither has a strong ruck division or spine.

Doggies have woeful big men (more so last season when injuries hit). They shouldn't be used as the example as we should develop abit strong than that one would hope. At least 'mid-level' which isn't bad seeing as 'Wallace-type midfeilders' was the no.1 goal.

For what it's worth I don't think Macdougall is the worse gamble. Something like:

Code:
[I]
HF Cooney Murphy Johnson
 F Robbins McDougall Darcy
[/I]

Might not be the worse forward line this season.

The Hawks look to have a top future spine in: Dowler, Thorp, Roughead (they need to find a decent full back) and Franklin floating around a flank but im not sure if there running players are all that good. As good as Hodge, Mitchell, Lewis and co. are it's a pretty once paced side.

melbourne are nothing, stkilda had them on the ropes and were gonna blow them out the water with gehrig dominating but that ********er thomas choosing kosi and rix to go against white was a massive blunder and eventually gave mclean the ball on a string to play a great game

yeh and neitz made hughton look like a child but hey that wouldnt suit your argument :thumbsu:

your seriously making a fool of yourself bents

tell me where the ******** i mentioned seaby, gardnier, graham, gaspar, staker, chambers etc

barry - c bolton - goodes - hall - mickey o

glass - hunter - cox - hansen - lynch

you want to tell me again they have average spines, 5 AA in that lot

the hawks will smash the dogs in 3 years, enough said

look forward to your spin :thumbsu:

no they wont, lack quality in the midfield which is where GF are won and lost these days....if WC and the Lions are the blueprints for premiership contenders then they not even in the home straight when it comes to building a side
