I would think that the prospect of playing senior football earlier than would otherwise be likely and possibly in the player's home state would be quite an attractive proposition to many ambitious young players, regardless of ladder position.

Nick Riewoldt didn't seem fazed at all at having to go to St Kilda last year, did he? Despite having to leave home.
