FREMANTLE OF COURSE!
well done hasleby, a well earned award! as drummy said, he does not have any special height or weight advantages in any way, just is very determined.well done ramanauskas too. i love seeing the young players coming up and proving there talent. another player who should have got more votes is matthew pavlich, now theres a player with talent!!
anyway, does anyone know who is the "josh fraser" or "number 1 pick" that the sainters are going to chose and does anyone have more news on the trade??

Andrew MacDougall (sp?) from over here will be among the top picks, probably not number 1 though.

As BSA said, Justin Koschitske is expected to go first. He's a CHF.

To Grave Danger. Are you being sarcastic? Alan Didak is expected to go very high from all reports.

Freo Fan,
How Long will it be before the dockers trade pavlich, and hasleby cause every other time they have a good player either on the field or as a draft pick ..... Off he goes just ask the roos about Abraham, Bell and Burton or essendon about Lloyd

Shame Fremantle Shame

they only got traded because they werent playing the standards that neesham wanted them too. the only one worth keeping from that list was bell. pavlich may end up leaving in a few years because he is a south australian and wants to go home but im sure that hasleby will stay. by the way, what the hell does lloyd have to do with freo apart from kicking goals against us???

Lloyd was taken with a draft pick tradedto essendon from freo in exchange for two logs and a half decent player, delany, someone else and Dale Kickett ( he's the half decent one) now you know that don't you wish your team got lloyd with that pick instead of the other three

Ok, It's very unlikely you'll see me go in to defend a Shocker Docker supporter but dons_r_tops you should of seen an interview with hasleby on basils footy show last year when he got traded by the dockers - he was so passionate about the club since he was an East Freo boy and said he didnt really want to go to any other club including the eagles (because "Fremantle was closer to home")

As for Abraham, Bell and Burton. Abraham never seemed very settled at Fremantle, yet he was very unfortunately with Injury, a few suspensions, and reaching his peak at North Melbourne. Belly only played the 1 game, and Neesham didnt really see him as part of the team - he just made good use of his second chances in footy. Abraham and Bell are the 2 hot rumours to be coming back west, so they might have got away - but they could come back for all we know. As for Spider, he was a crowd novelty - He was on the Eagles list for a few years, but never came close to getting a game and with Clem Michael and Bandy for the dockers - he would of been a total waste.

Yes, congratulations to Haselby and Ramanauskas.

And like BA and Eagle Fan have said, Koschitske (sp) and McDougall look like the probable first picks at this stage, along with Nick Riewoldt from Southport.

In that case, there is a high possibility that two of these players will don the red, white and black next year as we have the first two picks in the draft.

And Grave Danger, good to see you are trying to do your bit for your team.

Shame about those pesky recuiting scout though, who I am sure have all had a good look at young Didak.

Dons_r_tops,

You are right that premiership glory is so important. However, so is the lure of playing out your career for the one club. For my team; Loewe, Burke, Harvey and Trevor Barker were offered fortunes to play at more successful teams. Yet they decided to stay at the club that they loved in the hope of winning a premiership with St Kilda. And they may all miss out. That is the sacrifice players make and for that reason I think it is unfair that you have said that Haselby will leave in the hope of winning a premiership.

Not everyone are Leigh Colberts.

dons_r_tops, learn your football history. Lloyd was picked with a compensation pick (for losing an uncontracted player to Freo) for Ridley (I think his name was) Delany and some other washed out hack.
Fremantle never traded a draft pick, Essendon was given COMPENSATION. GET IT.

IN FUTURE, IF YOU DON'T KNOW, SAY NOTHING.

No, when Freo came into the competition they were allowed to sign 6? uncontracted players from the other AFL clubs.

In return, those clubs that lost an uncontracted player, were then allowed to choose a 16 year old.

The order of choice was based on the finishing position of the previous year. I think Essendon were 10th in 1994 and they were the lowest so they had first choice of the 16 yo's. They selected Matthew Lloyd.

Freo never had the pick. If they didn't sign any uncontracted players then Lloyd would've had to wait until the next draft.

However the key to the deal was that Essendon specified that Freo couldn't sign an uncontracted player from a club lower than themselves on the ladder. This left Essendon with the first pick and thus able to obtain Lloyd.

Really, when you look at it, it is probably the best deal ever done.
