It doesn't mean much, but I'd like to see 3 averages as at 1/4/11.

1) total squad
2) without rookies ie primary list players average only
3) best 22 players average - bit hard as this is subjective, but what if 3 of your best players have knee reco's and aren't going to play in 2011?

Point 3 is the most important one IMO. There would be a big jump in some clubs squad average compared to the players they would want to pick each week in their best 22.

Re point 3 what about say best 25 players average hence somewhat taking into account weekly injuries?

Sure 22 is maybe a bit short and maybe looking at the best 25 or 27 is better, but most fans before round 1 would have a good idea of who their best 22 is without any injuries.

It would be interesting to go back to Rd 22 last year and look at the 25 or 27 players who played the most games for each side and work out what their average ages were as of the Sunday of rd 22 2010 and see if average age means anything to where sides finish on the ladder.

The average age of your list literally counts for nothing.

Exactly.

Some clubs could have an even spread of 23 year olds and come in younger than a side with a few 32&33 year olds with the rest being 19 year olds. It's an absurd statistic.

IMO, the only decent measure of youth is how many players 23 (?) and under are playing in your senior side each week.
