Youngsters - Armfield and Ellard

Armfield showed that if he can maintain his hard attack on the footy and preparedness to block, tackle etc he showed on Saturday there will be a spot for him in the senior side. He looks to have good balance and has a bit of pace what I saw of him in his first up game I was happy. I have always felt that we have had too many sweepers in our back half instead of genuine backs, I think the last couple of years with the recruitment of Anderson, Browne and Armfield that they are starting to try and address this.

I think Edwards looks like he may develop into a Fisher / Richard Dennis (before knee reco) type of marking forward. I haven't seen a lot of him in the VFL but what I have always like is his ability to fly for his marks from any angle and keep his eye on the ball.

Pfeiffer was also very impressive first game up, may have a good one there is he can stay focussed on playing footy.

What, the squad that has taken us to the bottom two, five out of six years?? Sorry, they must have been a great squad. Admittedly the wheel is starting to turn.

A meaningful contribution in that they are getting a regular game and having at least some periodic input, yet these guys have shown nothing and are being talked about as the second-coming of jesus.

We all know he's a value bet with excellent knowledge of the game and a lovely turn of phrase when dismantling opposition supporters but it's that gentle slap upside the head when he doesn't agree with you that stings.

Armfield - Looked quite capable hard at it and will play quite a few games this year

Ellard - Did some nice things, tried hard, hope he makes the most of his chances as i don't think he'll get many maybe a little too small for AFL.

Jamison - Very good, impresses me every time i've seen him seems to get better each game.

Pfeiffer - Great start to his Carlton carrer hope he can keep it up i though he worked really hard.

Hammer - Exciting, look forward to watching his progress

lol. Almost sounds as though we've been watching 2 different players over the past few years. A diversity of opinion is always a good thing.

Edwards 2006 and Edwards 2007 WERE very different players.

In 2006 he was very close to selection despite being in his first year and despite our exalted leader Pagan not generally picking first year players. Edwards would play from 30 to 80 metres out as a quasi CHF and he was looking very very good.

in 2007 he was terrible and couldnt run and had no confidence.

I reckon he got a gig in 2008 because of his 2006. Theres talent there but in 2007 he was shocking.

ps Hartlett was at the ground this afternoon running laps and is expected to train on Wednesday.
