Prediction Your 2020 Best 22 (Post Trade Period)

This idiot is gonna have a go at how we line up round 1

Plowman - Jones - Simpson

Doc - weitering - Newman

Newnes - Cripps - Walsh

Kruezer - setterfield - Murphy

Fisher - McKay - Martin

Betts - Kennedy - CAZ

Cunningham - SPS - GOV - ED

UNLUCKY:

Gibbo: outshone by Martin and fisher imo
Marchy: first in if injuries down back. Or could replace Newnes.
Jsos: could replace ED on bench if Mids are humming without him.
WILLO: Newman wins on exposed form.

Dow/O’Brien et al to get killer instinct at northern.

Alright guys who’d I miss?

Best 22 all fit ...

Simpson. Jones. Plowman.
Docherty. Weitering. SPS.
Walsh. Ed Curnow. Setterfield.
Martin. Charlie Curnow. Cuningham.
Betts. McKay. McGovern.
R. Kreuzer. Cripps. Murphy.
I. Marchbank. Fisher. Gibbons. Casboult.

next few: JSOS. O’Brien. Williamson. Newman. Dow. Stocker. Newnes. Gibbons. TDK.

Geez this really highlights our depth going into 2020 doesn't it...thank you SOS.
And under 'next few' you'd have to have Kennedy in there as well - although you have Gibbons listed here but also in the best 22 ;)

Ruck depth: TDK & Pittonet - A little unproven at AFL level but looks decent for the future.
Forward depth: JSOS & Kennedy. A lot of pre-season reports have Honey impressing.
Midfield depth: LOB & Dow. A few other high draft pick midfielders building and can call upon in a few years.
Defence depth: Willo/Newman/Newnes/Stocker. Suddenly we are well stocked for smaller running defenders. Macreadie & Goddard not the best looking KPP depth, but we already have 4 in the team so could just go with one less if any got injured and can always swing Casboult back.

List is is good shape.

Let’s agree to disagree.

Gibbons is not a natural forward, so it’s about whether we play another small forward or rotate midfielders through a forward pocket.

Cunningham is not a natural forward as well, so not sure you're making a point of difference?

I would back Gibbons in the midfield rotations over Cunningham at their current development.

I really think this is very close to our starting 22, but I would like to make some tweaks:

Plowman - Jones - Simpson

Doc - weitering - Willo

Newnes - Cripps - Walsh

Kruezer - setterfield - Murphy

Fisher - McKay - Martin

Betts - Kennedy - GOV

Cunningham - SPS - JSOS- ED

UNLUCKY:
CAZ - team is too top heavy with all of McKay,Gov & CAZ
Newman: Willo just seems he is really ready to break out; so Newman has to fight with Willo & Simpson

The rest, I agree with you

I would have JSOS, Gibbo or Marchy(depending fitness) ahead of Cunners for round 1

can’t wait for pre season games for everyone to prove their case!

My concern for removing CAS would be that we’d be too small if Harry was to do the relief rucking.

But I would like to see Kennedy and jsos play together :)

Casboult is most certainly in our best 22. Especially with Curnow out.

Gov/McKay/Cas can easily play together...they did last year.

Not enough love for Levi

Last year could lay a claim to being our best/most durable defender or forward

I think he would just get squeezed out of our best 22, and be first emergency for our talls.

But to suggest he won't be playing when Charlie is a good chance to miss the first half of the season is just silly.

I think Levi is there until TDK is ready. Unless Krooz is out, then it changes again

Was that with or without any of these?
Kruezer, Jones & weitering ?

It's possible, for sure.
I think having him in with Charlie, Harry and Gov makes for a tall forward 7.

Could do, but I see it as dangerous setup if we can win/break even with inside 50 counts

Apart from Levi(who has improved) all the others have some toe for their size. In fact, I would say all of Mitch, Charlie and Harry have got more toe than Jack and Kennedy

Was referring to the forwards. If kruezer is on the bench with your lineup and Harry is in the ruck. You’d have Gov and Kennedy and SOS up forward
That’s too small imo

Ooops - sorry, I was supposed to respond to this post below. But, pretty much the same sentiments.
When Harry is in the ruck, it's probably a good thing to allow our fwd line a bit of a mix up anyway.

Casboult is most certainly in our best 22. Especially with Curnow out.

Couldn't agree more...cant think of another player in the league who can play forward, defence and in the ruck

That's a fair point, off the top of my head maybe a Carlisle, Hipwood in juniors showed he can play back as well, Blicavs, maybe Balta may come through too

Although none have his marking consistency

Might have been the case in the past, but I think Cunners will move past at least two of those guys.

Cuningham is a watch this space player. Could well be our most improved in 2020.
