Francis, Hooker, Hurley, Ambrose is the real question mark, can all 4 play back? does 1 miss? or do we consider Hooker forward and not play Mckernan?

Who rucks with Nicnat in this team?

From a saints perspective, I'd go with the below:

FB: Geary Howard Wilkie
HB: Roberton Carlisle Clark
C: Hill Hanners Billings
HF: Gresham Battle Butler
FF: Lonie Membrey King
R: Marshall Steele Ross
I: Webster Jones Dunstan Ryder

It's a bit too tall probably and I'd like to get Hind in but injuries/form will sort it out.

Oscar Allen. Darling also took a lot of forward 50 ruck contests this year.

HB: Stewart Taylor Henry
C: Duncan Selwood Clark
HF: Dahlhaus Hawkins Ablett
F: Miers Jenkins Rohan
R: Stanley Dangerfield Guthrie
I: Ratugolea Steven Tuohy Parfitt Narkle Menegola Bews

I'll name an extended 25 until pre season form is known.

Hopefully get something out of Cockatoo and Fogarty next year but being perennially injured I'll leave them out until they prove their fitness. Atkins thereabouts also.

Edit: And completely forgot Constable.

You’ve missed Yeo and have Kelly twice. Apart from that yeah I think you’re on the money

Unlucky: Graham, Baker, Ross, McIntosh, Naish, Chol

Inevitable injuries and rotations will see us again blooding the 'unlucky' players plus Townsend, Balta, Collier-Dawkins (who killed it in the VFL GF), Menadue and Aarts (sp?). Atm we really do have an embarrassment of riches at VFL level giving us the flexibility to develop players gradually and keep the competition for spots at an all time high. I'm also looking forward to seeing who we can bring in at the ND. Good time to support the Tigers!

Picks 3+8 (for now)

There's just a big gap between the 15 or so players I believe should or will be out there and the next 7. Having so many injuries and such an unsettled line up it's really hard to judge the quality of the fringe players. If I had to guess I'd say Hibberd and Oscar get first go down back whilst Weideman, Lockhart, Jones and Hunt fill the gaps up forward.

8 defenders is one too many, reckon Scharenberg misses out, how many mid sizers do you need? And Noble stays ahead of Quaynor for now. So bring Mayne in - who keeps his wing until proven otherwise - for Scharenberg. Beams is optimistic as well, surely either Thomas as a defensive forward or Sier/Wills for the midfield balance. Darcy Cameron a fair chance to take Mason Cox's spot. The Swans never gave him a prolonged go but he looked like a natural forward before he was drafted. I'd be giving him at least 3 weeks at the start of the year to see if he can improve on what the big American does.

Scary to think that a 25yo dual premiership ruckman could be relegated to trade bait/injury depth in 12 months time.

Dimma loves Boobies and George. Not sure they would be in the best 22 in any other team. But in this team they are the foreign components that make a Ferrari.

Really positive as thats a seriously good spine and an unbelievable defense (worst player is aish and hes pretty bloody good). Lacks a bit of sparkle in the midfield but pick 7, 10 and last years first round draft pick sam sturt could provide that.
Matera could lose his spot to switta given switta is so quick and has great pressure but really struggles to kick goals.
Love the idea of mccarthy up the ground to half forward as hes a good long distance runner and i want to utilize that elite kick inside fifty.

I'd have Blakely in the 22 but that's my only change.

If for the sake of argument he replaced Henry...then that is a solid but unspectacular Best 22 - the bottom six is much better than our bottom 6 during the last stint in finals, but it lacks the top 6 talent we had then (only Fyfe and Walters are proven elite, with Pearce, Hogan and Ryan as A grade potential). Agree that our defence is our strength - and recalling that to the bye last year we had conceded the second lowest number of points before we lost Pearce and Wilson.

The best news about that 22 is that it doesn't include either of our top 2 picks from 2018 (Sturt and Valente - who spent most of the year injured and are yet to debut), or our 2016 Pick 8 in Logue (who has spent 50% of his time since being drafted injured) or our Picks 7, 10 and Henry from this draft. So there is plenty of upside over a 3-4 year horizon with only Munday and SHill 29 or older. Plus the fact we have three 2020 NGA prospects who are being talked up as Top 20 potential.

All in all I reckon just outside the 8 this year, crack the 8 in 2021 and then push for top 4 in 2022 and beyond - assuming that Pearce and Hogan can shake the cycle of injuries they've been in over the last 3-4 seasons. Take them out and a decent 22 looks much much worse.
