Backline: Hibberd, Oscar Mc/Weid/Petty, Hore/J Smith, Kade Kolo
Mids: Baker, Dunkley, Vanders
Forwards: Lockhart, Petty/Weid, ANB, Chandler, Spargo, Jones, Hannan, Hunt
Picks 3+8 (for now)

There's just a big gap between the 15 or so players I believe should or will be out there and the next 7. Having so many injuries and such an unsettled line up it's really hard to judge the quality of the fringe players. If I had to guess I'd say Hibberd and Oscar get first go down back whilst Weideman, Lockhart, Jones and Hunt fill the gaps up forward.
Is Melksham a guaranteed 22 starter if fit?

Francis, Hooker, Hurley, Ambrose is the real question mark, can all 4 play back? does 1 miss? or do we consider Hooker forward and not play Mckernan?
Drop ambrose and bring snelling in. Or gleeson. Thats too many defenders
About right though

Here is my take on West Coast.

FB: Sheppard Barrass Duggan
HB: Hurn McGovern Jetta
C: Sheed Kelly Gaff
HF: Ryan Darling Cripps
FF: Petrucelle Kennedy Cameron

R: Naitanui Yeo Shuey

I: Cole Redden Venables O. Allen

E: Schofield Hutchings Hickey Waterman

I like our side with two rucks, NicNat is no spring chicken. Also allows O.Allen to play as the 3rd tall (but still very mobile) forward which will stretch most defenses. This bumps Cameron out of the side but he will definitely play more this year, Petch will need to keep his form up.

Prefer to see Schofield in the side as he is a tight, 1on1 contested backman with a lot of experience. Him being in allows both Barrass and Gov to zone off and read the ball which is when they play their best footy. I also think we play better with Hutch shutting down the oppo's best smaller mids, and if there is a dominant big bodied oppo mid put Yeo on him - then Hutch might miss due to matchups.

Cole still not back to his 2018 form but would love to see him back at the top level. Venables I'm yet to see him play to the potential that a lot of people say he has, hope he is over his concussion issues from last year.

Duggan and Nelson are similar players for mine, Duggan with much better disposal but Nelson impressed me at times this year after being in the wilderness for a while.

Mine looks like this:

FB: Sheppard Barrass Duggan
HB: Hurn McGovern Jetta
C: Sheed Kelly Gaff
HF: Cripps Darling O.Allen
FF: Ryan Kennedy Petrucelle

R: Naitanui Yeo Shuey

I: Schofield Redden Hutchings Hickey

E: Cole Venables Waterman Cameron

No Balta after another pre-season, even as an emergency?

Depending on opposition, Graham may take a Stack/Rioli/Bolton slot, but completely agree.

Maynie doesn't get a game over Quaynor, Scharenberg and Brown? I thought he's been pretty good for you guys over the past few years?
Well our side is never actually fit, so it's fair to expect he'll play most games anyway but a true best 22 sees him on the fringe imo, because I believe Scharenberg can play his wing/half-back role more efficiently if given the chance, and Quaynor has the speed that we don't have much of - he'll play most games next season, he would have played finals last season if he wasn't injured.

Reckon we will continue to evolve with some blokes who have been knocking the door down and didnt play in the g/f.
Pickett will keep his spot and Ross will play most games as will the two injured players who missed the g/f Stack and Graham.

Imo Balta will take Broads spot if i include Pickett then that is 5 new players. Just there.
Imo Callum Coleman - Jones will replace one of the ruckmen as soon as he shows more than the other two ruckmen and that could be as early as rnd 1.
We also have a young fella in the twos who plays across h/b Eggmolesse - Smith who i think is ready and shows more than Short and Baker imo.
Then theres Riley Collier - Dawkins who showed a fair bit late in the yr. Im hoping it could be the yr of the Hyphen for us.

One thing for sure competition for spots will be hotter than ever at Tigerland.

8 defenders is one too many, reckon Scharenberg misses out, how many mid sizers do you need? And Noble stays ahead of Quaynor for now. So bring Mayne in - who keeps his wing until proven otherwise - for Scharenberg. Beams is optimistic as well, surely either Thomas as a defensive forward or Sier/Wills for the midfield balance. Darcy Cameron a fair chance to take Mason Cox's spot. The Swans never gave him a prolonged go but he looked like a natural forward before he was drafted. I'd be giving him at least 3 weeks at the start of the year to see if he can improve on what the big American does.
In my ultimate fantasy, the back line and midfield rotations change dramatically for 2020, with Scharenberg given more of a link-up wing role, replacing Mayne and Maynard playing more midfield with Quaynor ultimately fulfilling the 7th defensive role, because he has better run and carry, and upside than Noble and the other competitors.

Thomas is a very average footballer - good at crumbing, set shots and kicking clutch goals, but poor at earning his own ball, finding space, pressure inside 50 etc. Stephenson and Brown are better defensively; Thomas doesn't really have a competitive edge at Collingwood. Should he return, Beams has more than what it takes to be a very handy forward who can roll in and out of midfield. Like De Goey, he's a power player with a good set of hands and a good burst speed. We need De Goey to spend as many minutes in the middle as possible, so I think Sidebottom and Beams should play more inside 50 to fill the void.

Sier and Wills are depth at this point. Like I said, I expect the midfield rotation to be switched up in 2020 and we'll see Maynard and De Goey play more midfield and perhaps Crisp too, with Adams and Sidebottom to spend more time on flanks. I don't think we really need to have extra midfielders on the bench.

Darcy Cameron will need a big pre-season to justify a round one selection because he's nowhere near as good as Cox is. I'm almost certain he'll start in the VFL.
