Miracle run to make the Granny, leading half way through the 3rd quarter - you know what happened next. Had we finished top 4 and not had to play 4 finals games, and ran out of legs in the granny we may have gone all the way that year.
How can you run out of legs when there was 14 days between prelim and the gf? Not to mention possibly the most unfit player to take the field in an afl era gf playing full back for the opposition?
Let's face it you got completely rinsed, just like the Cats the week before. Melbourne were head and shoulders above everyone else in '21, no one was beating them.

Yeah I don't subscribe to the theory that travel was a factor when we had a week off after the prelim. We had the shackles on the Dees midfield after quarter time but once they broke away with ruck dominance it was all over. If the margin was only 2 goals at 3 quarter time there may have been belief that we could hit the front again but that last minute of the third quarter was a killer.

And if the game was played in Perth?

Let's not ignore Geelong getting 17 games in Victoria as opposed to that Eagles of 91 playing half their games interstate.

It's not simply a case of comparing H&A records.

How many teams lose just one H&A game?

You lost to Fitzroy in the H&A and then lost the GF by 53 points.

And you think WCE 91 > Geelong 2008?
