Strategy Your clubs draft needs

Adelaide will go best talent available but will consider home grown talent first due to go home factor

Unless you are picking up mature age players 99% of draftees wont be ready for years

trading gets your needs filled, drafting finds the guns

We need a key forward but the Kings will likely be gone by our pick and none of the other KPFs are worth a R1. This is probably why we traded for Kreuger.

We are ok for inside mids and KPDs.

We could use some quality outside mids with run and carry and skill by foot as we are quite pedestrian for ball movement.

A quality small forward would help but isnt urgent.

We definitely need midfielders with good disposal and/or pace. We’ve got enough guys that can win the ball inside, but our delivery forward is disgusting for the most part.
Also, a KPF who can get up the ground to replace Lynch and allow Wright/Day/Crossley/Martin to stay inside 50 more would be ideal.
And finally a small/medium defender who actually knows how to defend and not just rebound would be helpful.

A haul of Lukosius/Rozee or Rankine/Smith/McLennan would be perfect for us.

Fiery small defender with run and carry who can shut down opposition small forwards - Isaac Quaynor

Strong key defender who can play on opposition tall forwards - Will Kelly

Speedy small forward who can tackle and provide pressure, a replacement for Trav Varcoe

Mature-age tall forward who can come in if desperate and provide an immediate tall target inside 50

Another key defender, preferably in the 20-23 age bracket who doesn’t need a heap of time to develop

The eagles should use their first 2 picks on best mids available
Then we'll grab cameron
For the rest 1 ruck
A hbfer to develop
A kpd
More mids

Couple of things:

1. Pacy inside mids that can burst from the pack. From the mids we have, only the perennially injured Brouch can do this. Think Shuey/Shiel types, ones that can really break open a game
2. At least one KPP, doesn't really matter what position (KPF/KPD/ruck)
3. If not pacy inside mids, then pacy outside mids that are hard at it and pressure well
4. Probably an Sloane replacement too, although this isn't vital this year

If still on the board:

1. Two from Liam Stocker/Riley Collier-Dawkins/Xavier Duursma (pick 8 and 13)
2. Bailey Williams (pick 21)
3. Chayce Jones (pick 16 or 21)
4. Luke Valente (pick 21)

Just wondering what types you think your club will be going after come draft night to balance out your lists.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say we’ll be after a small defender, a KPD, and maybe a small high pressure forward (if he receives a bid) :drunk:

I’d say our priority is to get players that can win the footy and are elite kicks.

We need more run from our defence, an effective, goal kicking medium forward and probably another tall forward though Ratagolea and Kreuger help in that regard. More outside run is also needed.

Players with leadership skills wouldn’t go astray either.

Unlikely to be any surprises from Collingwood on draft night.
Isaac Quaynor is tipped to be selected somewhere around pick 10-20. 2018 U18 All-Australian as a small running defender. Collingwood has first call on him as part of their NGA.
Will Kelly is a key backman -something we need. He's tipped to be selected around pick 20-30. Son of Craig Kelly.
Seeing Collingwood's selections start in the 40's, they will do pretty well to land those two -using the points value from their later selections, together with the points discount for NGA and F/S selections.

If we were to get both Rhylee West & Ben King with our first 2 picks I would be very happy.

West will add grunt to our midfield, especially since we have lost Dahlhaus & there are lingering doubts about Liberatore coming back the same player he was.

Ben King would be a great acquisition to our key player ranks as I am not convinced that either Boyd or Schache will ever be more than bit part players for us.

Other than that, best available & hope we can land a gem later in the draft.
