We told dalhaus we would take him late in the national draft and broke the kids heart when we didnt take himNo one drafted Dalhaus ..he made it the Rookie drafted
If you want to wait till the Rookie then you are really having leg either side of the fence ..don't be surprised if you end up having a player taken..Yep, but understood Wellsy wanted him in the rookie draft.

Schroder I presume was the pick they took instead of him.We told dalhaus we would take him late in the national draft and broke the kids heart when we didnt take him
We missed Scotty Thompson (NM) in a similar way. Promised him we were keen but NM pipped us.We told dalhaus we would take him late in the national draft and broke the kids heart when we didnt take him
A bit hard if someone uses an earlier pick than you assess him at.. where as we had a pick in the 50's and basically did not pick him. Did we try to get cute? Not sure.We missed Scotty Thompson (NM) in a similar way. Promised him we were keen but NM pipped us.
I recall that one live and was very peeved we had not selected him earlier anyway. We smugly thought he would not have been noticed by NM. Admittedly, Dawson Simpson at 34 was a need, and we had Scarlett, Harley, but lost Egan and selected Harry Taylor at 17. I really enjoyed Thompson's excellent Scarlett-like form in the VFL. He was brilliant in the VFL GF. Little did I know how good Harry was to be. Our next pick was Scott Simpson (44), one Simpson too many. I really rate Houlahan - has nice pace, excellent weight on his kicks for goal and passing, and can take a very good mark. Looks like a natural footballer with some nice tricks.
Kicked 20 goals from 11 matches in SANFL reserves for a 17yo, not bad.
Yeah they are good, but apparently their disposal efficiency is quite low, around 50%...What about Cassidy Parish and Worpel prime movers and most consistent Falcons and Vic Country.
Cassidy over 30 disposals often. Worpel lead VC and Falcons with big numbers in big games, always consistent.
Both will be big time players and great value at P35.
I hear Ling runs hot and cold, inconsistent.

Yeah maybe. I'm not sure about the stat, I'm just quoting what others have said.Worpel is said to be a 55-60mt kick.
Surely can be fixed. 50%?
They’d both be decent picks with our last pick 35 might be a bit early but I think either could develop into a decent afl player. What about Cassidy Parish and Worpel prime movers and most consistent Falcons and Vic Country.

Murphy could be gòod a flanker runner type bit underwhelming for my p22.Yeah they are good, but apparently their disposal efficiency is quite low, around 50%...

Hamish Brayshaw is another that I think could be worth a late pick. Good develop into a good inside mid similar to the other two.Murphy could be gòod a flanker runner type bit underwhelming for my p22.
Reason l like is because both are power players unlike others more fancied
Just had a look at the sporting news phantom draft and these were there Geelong selections:
Pick 22: James Worpel
Inside midfield
Height: 185cm
Weight: 84kg
From: Geelong Falcons
They love their local kids down at Geelong but there’s plenty of other reasons the Cats will be hoping to grab Worpel here.
He loves getting the ball out of tight situations and has the body, and determination, to keep doing it all day.
The one knock on Worpel is the quality of his disposals, but most teams will back themselves to fix that if they’ve got a kid prepared to do the work.
Pick 24: Nathan Murphy
Forward
Height: 188cm
Weight: 83kg
From: Sandringham Dragons
Able to play at either end of the ground Murphy reads the play well and can bring others into the game.
His skills are good, but it’s his affinity for the game that has impressed recruiters most, knowing they’re getting a guy who is most at home with a football in his hand – a quality that has come right back into vogue after clubs flirted with choosing athletes ahead of footballers.
Personally I wouldn't mind these two, with either Miers/Sam Taylor/Ling at P35 for me
Has good stamina, and goal nous. Might get found out at next level up, but so do many draft kids. Hard to say on him.Miers is 177cm and slow. I know he kicked goals at TAC level, but he shouldn't be in the conversation for the first two rounds.
We will use Pick 58 on a player also. They’d both be decent picks with our last pick 35 might be a bit early but I think either could develop into a decent afl player.
We will use Pick 58 on a player also.
Pick 73 is reserved for the Parsons upgrade I believe.
We might rookie Ruggles and/or Hayball, depending on what's left.
Yep, exactly. We have 33 players on the senior list currently so assuming we go 39/5 72 will be a live pick and 90 the Parsons upgrade, unless we take a DFA.
22 Balta1st pick Higgins (think he could slide big time), Brander, Garner, Richards
2nd Pick Hayes, Balta
3rd Pick Clavarino, Allen, L Fogerty, Worpel, Coleman Jones
4th Pick Ballard, Miers, Wooller, McCartin, Liam Ryan
Balta is def the best KPD. I would say he is the quickest, has a good frame, and can swing forward and be dangerous there.
