Well, we're into the last two months of the year, and with no AFL and the Spring Carnival at least half gone, the traditional punting avenues are drying up.
How are you going so far this year?
What is your target by the end of the year?
How do you plan to get there?
My punting year began after a long sabbatical on 22nd May, when due to utter insanity I backed Port Adelaide to beat Melbourne in Darwin. Port rattled home from 6 goals down in the last to hit the front, and then promptly gave the lead back and lost by a point. I decided at that point that I was punting like a moron, trying to "buy" myself a starting bankroll with money I could ill afford to lose, and that if I was going to gamble on an ongoing basis I had to start respecting my bankroll and bet much, much lower percentages.
So from being -60 units on 22nd May, I've slowly worked my way up to +50 units in early September, by punting on the horses, cycling (cheers Sasquatch), F1 and turning over my winnings from footy tipping. I only ever bet from my allotted bankroll because I can't otherwise afford to be gambling. Making use of some bonuses, and getting right into the start of the NFL season, I'm now up to +250 units at this point which is a great launch pad for 2011.
I'm aiming to get to +500 units by the end of the year, which I think is pretty achievable. I've had a horror week in NFL this week but generally my returns have been good. The NBL has been a source of a few good wins so I'm going to look further into that, and F1 has a few more races to run yet. I'm a good horse racing analyst if I don't try to tip the card, and I avoid crazy racing patterns or track conditions. The main thing is for me to continually review the way I'm punting, and to keep from letting the frustration in when I have a bad week such as this one.
Your turn.

. Still, +754 units is a great outcome.
