aside from the grannys and prelim wins, i will always remember the goal from daics in the drawn qualifying final. I was fairly close to it on the flank and remember the crowd noise being that loud it rattled me as a 9 year old. possibly the first time it moved:D.

i was there that day sitting behind the goals at the other end and seriously we all when up but we really didnt know what happen and who kicked the goal until we got home. :o

i love this thread

you are all so friggin beautiful.

best memory?

i was there in '90, had just turned 18, 2 weeks before the GF.
i loved it but didn't really appreciate it. I do now.
I learnt about the heartache and pride of being a collingwood supporter from my dad. for me that's what it's all about. I have a son who turns 18 next March. I hope he gets to a premiership for his 18th.

Other fave memories:
The 2010 prelim was glorious.
Heath Shaw's smother of the century
Collingwood chant at the 2010 grand final parade.
Semi final win over Adelaide

My son and I went to the drawn GF.

I was in kind of a coma for at least 4 days after that and because of that - It was Wednesday before I realised I was supposed to call up on Monday morning to get our guaranteed seats... I couldn't watch the replay ... i had it on and kept busy around the house, checking on scores....

Except for the replay, we haven't missed a game since 2006.

I have something a bit different.

Absolutely loved 90 but didn't really understand the passion as a kid in country nsw.

My favourite memory was a game against st kilda in the wet. I can't remember exact year but it was 09 or 10. We were robbed by the umps as usual and were down by close to 20 at 3 qtr time.

We somehow won and mick made special mention of the umpiring after the game, which he normally never did.

Daisy kicked goal of the season but the cheating umps called it back.

anyone remember the game?

Obviously 90 and 2010 prelim are super special.

... Was tha the game we beat Freo by 100 points? That game was a candidate for me.
No, it was round 10, 1998. I know that because I have a recording of the game. We came back from about 26 points down midway through the third to draw level just after 3/4 time. I remember it well because my son was getting really tired and wanted to go home but I hung on until we hit the lead. My god it was hard to drag myself away. We listened to the game on the radio in the car driving home and we got over the line by about 7 points. I always think how special it was for my son, at his first ever live match to have seen such a close game and a great fightback with an aging Rowdy, a rampaging Sav playing with his little bro and kicking 11 and Bucks at his absolute best. :thumbsu:

I was almost disappointed when they played another game or two at Vic Park because I wanted my son to be able to say he had been at the last game there and I found it hard to get to matches because of other commitments. None the less, we still sit down and watch that recording occasionally and try to pick ourselves out in the crowd. Have never managed that to date. :(

Ah, the game I went to was the previous year. Victoria Park was packed with the faithful, together with about 40 Freo supporters. Freo lost by a 100, and their 40 supporters made a lot of new friends that day :D

Ha ha. That would have been magic to be at. Looking back at the game I referred to there were so many interesting little pieces of trivia about it. 3 Collingwood captains played that day in Bucks, Rowdy and Scotty Burns. The two Roccas with Sav booting a lazy 11. Bucks must have finished the game with more than 40 possessions I believe and it was just amazing to hear half the crowd counting them aloud every time he got another touch. Clement and Holland were both playing for Freo as well. Great memories!

Fair enough mate, I have an Eidetic Memory though. I remember everything i've ever seen, read, heard. Autism gives you some funny little extras :p

Ok fair enough.

That spretty cool, in a way?

Was a goal! Daisy kicked the sealer anyway. I think it was 2008.

Trying to recall an individual moment, or piece of play, it has to be the Daics goal in against the WCE in the early drawn final. Featured three of my personal footy heroes, the Great Rowdy and Pants and Daics. It all happened in a slit second.
I remember it as if time slowed, it's all still clearly in my head yet scrambled.
I remember Pants bumping Worsfold so hard, he actually tumbled over and he was a very very tough player. This allowed Browny to handball back to Millane then his odd hand ball to Daics because he couldnt handball in the normal manner due to his broken thumb.

Then, of course, Daics kicking the ball while facing the forward pocket, i was thinking what is he doing, the ball going throough giving us a slight bit of breathing space. I dont think i had even seen a goal kicked in that manner up until then, for Daics to try it in a final with 2 points the difference...
All happened in an instant, but an amazing memory.

Just on Daics overall, i honestly dont think he get the kudos he deserves in the scheme of historical greats. He is in the top 5 of best players i have ever witnessed, and in the top 2 or 3 for the most exciting players. I'm not sure Bucks is that far ahead of him for mantle of the greatest Magpie in the last 30 years...

my favourite collingwood memory is back when we were playing our last game at vic park against brisbane.

my family and i had driven over from adelaide during the week to watch the training sessions and on one of the nights after they finished the lights had been turned off my brother and i were having a kick on the oval when gavin brown came over and asked to have a kick with us. we kicked in a triangle for a good half hour doing torpes and what not. then he invited us into the club room to have tea with the players .

my parents couldnt find us for hours n were getting worried so browny had to apologise for taking us away and explain where we'd been lol

I was too young to remember 1990, so of course I'll go with the 2010 GF, but we've been blessed with a number of great finals performances in the last decade: 02 QF vs Port, 02 PF vs Adelaide, 02 GF vs Brisbane, 03 QF vs Brisbane, 07 SF vs West Coast, 07 PF vs Geelong, 09 SF vs Adelaide, 10 PF vs Geelong, 10 GF replay vs StK, 11 PF vs Hawthorn. After being renowned as finals chokers for decades, we won 14.5 out of 22 finals under Mick, and excluding GFs we won 12 out of 17.

PS the game against St Kilda was rd 14 2007.

Another good memory was the thrashing of geelong by over 80 points. Excuse me for not remembering year again. Reason it was memorable was it was the first time i remember thinking we are not far from a flag. We just had to play like that consistently.

I remember that, we absolutely tore them apart.:D Rd 9 2008 iirc.

2010 Premiership. I was lucky enough to get tickets to both GFs (first time I'd been to a GF) and the feeling of euphoria when we won it was just incredible. Random backslapping, hugging & high fiving. Looking around at other Pies supporters in the final quarter as the clock ticked down was just beautiful to see. I was on a high for at least 3 months afterwards.

Some more quick ones

Daics goals in the '90 GF - especially the second when you could see him believing he was finally going to be on the winning side.

Pants holding the ball aloft at the final siren having been the steel in our backbone.

Heater's amazing goal line smother

Dids incredible smother and run on forward pocket snap

THE CHANT - always sends chills through my backbone as it rolls around the ground

My dad taking me to Victoria park for my first ever game. Pies v saints I think. We kicked 30 odd goals and went from bottom of the ladder to top I think. Wearmouth, manasa, Rene kink, oh my god I will never forget it. And of course the only game or thing my prick of a father ever did for me. Even today I take my son to the footy to see the pies at least 6 games a year and all the finals and I live in Sydney.

^^ Agree, how bloody good was it to be a pies fan tonight!!!

I went to Vegas too , 5 days after going to the granny . Anyway besides the obvious GF win one of my best memory's was the 02 PF , when the pies ran out at the start it was the biggest roar I've heard to this day , was my first final I'd been to and I think I almost teared up ! ( ********)

Mate the celebrations were great. I spoke to a couple of Collingwood supporters while I was over there at a couple of different casinos... You could of been one of them lol

My best memory from 02 PF against Adelaide is big Anth Rocca's goal from about 60 meters out. CROWD = ELECTRIC.
