Still remember watching Gladiator as a kid. When they were fighting in coliseum, I just thought it looked amazing.

I think Gladiator was one of the first movies to really nail the practical/cgi blend. There was thing from behind the scenes DVD that showed the practical sets and then overlaid the CGI and it worked really seamlessly.

Its obviously ALOT different but Avatar in 3D i remember walking out and being convinced that cinema would never go back to 2D.

I watched Avatar at the cinemas twice I was that impressed with it. The first and only movie to actually nail 3d.

This Villa on Lake Como that Bond ends up on after getting injured in CASINO ROYALE - looks like the kind of fk off rich persons hospital you would expect him to convalesce at.

It's a museum now you can go and visit if you are in the area #havebeen

I’m guessing it’s probably been said but the beacon scene from Return of the King is breathtaking. Well most of the scenery in those movies is really. The argonath scene when the fellowship are in the boats is amazing

I like remote spots, like Antarctica, the Forbidden Zone, enigmatic alien worlds, outer Hebrides/west coast of Ireland/northern moors, tucked away places requiring ferry transport, outback, secret hideouts, no mans land/DMZ, desert island castaways, oil rigs, lighthouses, isolated prisons & boarding schools, explorer adventures, security guard night shifts and winter caretakers, slow tv trains, Siberia, woods horror, sort of uninhabited and forbidding places outside the supervision of civilisation. I'm big into maritime fiction and gothic storytelling as well which ties into that I guess.

I always wanted (Hey) Arnold's bedroom and the library in Disney's Beauty & the Beast.

I'm not sure about favorites. I tend to like rugged Irish/Scottish settings. Game of Thrones was probably one of the best with a mix of Northern Ireland, Croatia, Spain etc.

I've been to a few locations in different cities I guess. A whole bunch of things are filmed here. One of the biggest industries in the city https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Films_shot_in_Vancouver

I've seen some pretty cool effects and stunts for things like Deadpool, Mission Impossible and the Supernatural series. Riverdale films in my neighborhood a bit. A house down the road from us was blown up for Supergirl. Here are a couple of well-known older ones:

Neverending Story was filmed here. This final scene is just down a city alley:

Rambo: First Blood was filmed in Hope (nearby town).

The final tournament of Happy Gilmore was filmed at probably my favorite local course:

That clubhouse reminded me of the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. It's a privately owned home that open for tours.
The Peters Sellers movie 'Being There' was filmed there, among many other films and tv shows.
Asheville is a beautiful town to visit too. You can see the Smoky Mountains in the distance.

Similar style. That one looks much fancier.

Luke Combs territory.
Got some mates that live in Asheville. Really hope to get there one day to catch up with them.

I love any Aussie film from the 80s/90s, such as The Big Steal.

See parts of Melbourne like they were back in those days. :hearts:

I wish there were actual sites you can visit from that. Tried to find out where some of the key locations were but far too much ambiguity from the respondents to categorically go to any of them.
Love that movie so much.

The house from the Big Steal, 129 Albert Street, Seddon 1990

The car yard (set up in for the film in Victoria St Richmond an inner suburb of Melbourne) was so real that the crew kept receiving genuine offers from the public wishing to purchase the vehicles. :tearsofjoy:

During the scene where "Dancing in the Storm" is played I'd assume that was filmed on the Tullamarine Freeway, western suburbs area, like down near Flemington/Footscray?

Aye, seem that.

But I want to see:

Julia’s house?
Where the Jag breaks down?
I think the Carpark was on Exhibition Street?

Damn I love that movie
