I'm getting right into Excel and the following are the shortcuts that I love the most and have saved me the most time.

ALT-W-V-G (Toggle gridlines)
CTRL-G (Use to get rid of blank lines)
CTRL- Use to delete rows/columns
CTRL-SHIFT-V Paste Values

IN browsers

CTRL SHIFT T - Last closed tab
CTRL SHIFT W - Close all windows

Not really a shortcut, but I only recently discovered Excel's LET function & have been having fun getting my head around that. A very basic example -

You want to calculate the area of a rectangle and apply a 10% increase.

=LET(width, 5, height, 10, area, width*height, area*1.1)
  • width is set to 5.
  • height is set to 10.
  • area is calculated as width*height (5*10 = 50).
  • The final result is area*1.1 (50*1.1 = 55).
Without LET, the formula would be: =5*10*1.1
