Mine was the kids version of this bat. It was light as a feather, and an absolute friggen plank!

Before he moved house 2-3 years ago, my younger brother still had it, cos 20+ years later it was still an awesome beach/backyard cricket bat!

If only I'd known what a flog Mark Waugh would become :(

Thankfully my 2nd bat was heavily influenced by the God of Tasmania, David Boon. A Gray Nicholls powerspot. (Still an awful bat though.)

Slats was the pin up boy for the power spot wasn't he?

Boony was an Elite and later and Ultimate man from memory. He was to Gray Nicholls what Geelong has been to Ford.

I think you're right - but I definitely had a poster on my bedroom wall as a young fella with Boony using a Powerspot. It's what made my cricket illiterate father decide to buy me that one.

Slats and Blewy were the Powerspot kings. Blewy moved on to the one with the triangles on the back... dunno which one that was called.

Then the Sabre.

Boony was Ultimate all the way.

Blewy's I believe was called the Optimum?

My god I was a **** for the Greg Chappell Catalogue back then.

SS Turbo - Heavy bat, with a red grip, used it for 2 seasons:

GM Diamond - bought off a guy who won it in a raffle. Awesome, awesome bat that weight 4 ton. Went from #11 in juniors to opening in 2nd grade with this willow. In later life it became my "spinners on" bat, before disappearing.

Alternating with the Diamond was a bat I bought for $10.

Finally, the most recent bat is a Kookaburra Kahuna "Big Edge" - though I can't find any pictures of it.

When I was little the only test players who used County were guys like merv Hughes. So I just naturally assumed they were fvcking shit. When Gary Kirsten came along and started using one it almost made me think he was better than he was because he managed to do it with a piece of junk stick
Warney batted for a County for a while somewhere in his career.

An original Millichamp. Pre-Puma era. That's gold.

I had a mate with one of these bats. It was the first time (that I remember) in my still-young life that I stopped being a slave to marketing and to what famous people/sportspeople/celebrities did.

Those bats were sexy as ****, they were the first bat that I ever held that had the oval handle, and if money were no object at the time it is 100% the bat that I would've had going through my teenage years.

grey nicholls powerspot. was the fattest bat at our club. used to pass it to my first drop mate as id trundle past. He was way better than me with it. was to heavy for my weak little boy arms.

My progression went something like this:

Kooka sword to start with.

Graduated to the Ice a year later after Dad held his word following making my first 30!

Looking back it's kind of funny that I ended up with my first two bats following Justin Langer. Whilst still respected him greatly, he was a fair way down the list of idols. I think my choices were more to do with what the local sport shop had available.

The Ice held me in great stead for a couple years, had an awesome middle until the training session before playing in the seniors for the first time a chunk came out of the base batting in the nets in rain in a bid to impress the older guys. Guess it worked because I played but first half of the year I borrowed a team mates bat, Gray Nicholls XXX and because I didn't play juniors with him had to use the club bat which was one of those old style Millichamp Puma's (which was a cannon of a bat but too heavy for me).

It was around 2007 or so when Woodworm was at it's peak so jumped on that bandwagon. Served me pretty damn well there for probably a good three to four seasons before it started too feel too small and light. Then splurged on a GM Icon which played a season or two before work stopped any sort of consistent sport.

Slazenger V something. It was a Kashmir willow that my friend used the face of the bat to knock in stumps with. Ruined it completely.
