Why do people do this shit?my first car was a 2004 BA falcon, got it around 2006, got it lowered, rims etc. ended up being 27k in debt.
i didn't treat it properly as well, giving it the occasional thrashing. last two services have cost me 2.5k![]()
Why do people do this shit?
Did you used to drive with one hand on the wheel and one down your pants?
A 67 VW beetle that used to be my mums. It possessed a lack of appointments and dynamics that would be hard to believe these days, and many peculiarities like 6 volt lighting, cross ply tyres, swing axle rear suspension and a fuel tank up front in the boot.
I hotted it up eventually, which came in handy when I stupidly used it to visit the Ravenswood drag strip one afternoon. About midnight I started the 50 odd kay trip back to Perth, and knew I was in trouble as soon as I turned on the headlights, which were barely adequate with streetlights and virtually non existent in the pitch dark I now had to contend with. I had a very slow trip to the main road which was then only one lane, doing about 40 kph, and then waited for a car to pass so I could give chase and use their headlights. First one turned off fairly soon, and I nearly ended up in a ditch by the side of the road just trying to pull over and stop. I couldn't see shit!
The next car took me all the way to streetlights thankfully, but for some reason, the driver of the 6 pack Charger, who's luck it was to have me for close company, kept speeding up and up, and not wanting to loose him and end up in another ditch, or wait who knows how long for another car at 1 am, I matched him, until we were hurtling along this narrow, winding, heavily treed country road at 90+ mph.
I lived to tell the tale, but my heart must have been doing 180 bpm, and my knuckles were probably white, if I could have actually seen them. Those lights got a 12v upgrade almost immediately. Much better, and the horn actually worked for the first time after that.
Bloody beetles! Despite that, and a succession of fast cars since, I've still got the little bugger in my garage, all these years later.

I had a 1966 beetle, green and 6 volt electrics.Mine was a two tone green 65 VW Beetle, I called her the green terror. It was a fantastic little car, only ever had to replace the clutch cable, had it for over 3 years, until some idiot rear ended me & pushed me into a lamp post.![]()

Never let me down and was part of many great times.![]()
Porche and Volkswagon-----say no more. They were fantastic & never overheated, I can't understand why all car manufacturers didn't put the engines in the rear.![]()

If the fan belt ever came off, you sure could. Why spend so much money on your first car, freaking stupid to spend so much money on a car when you are still a teenager, when the chances are you will probably bang it up a but as well.my first car was a 2004 BA falcon, got it around 2006, got it lowered, rims etc. ended up being 27k in debt. finished paying it off a couple months ago. biggest regret of my life so far.. absolute waste of cash on flipping rims, insurance and petrol etc. i didn't treat it properly as well, giving it the occasional thrashing. last two services have cost me 2.5k
should have got some 5-6 grand car that costs fk all to run.
