In 2006 I got a guernsey signed by Travis Johnstone only for him to get moved onto Brisbane later that year
In 2010 I got a shirt signed by Cameron Bruce only for him to move off to Hawks soon after
In 2013 I bump into Colin Sylvia and he signs my football and draws a big #12 on it too. A few months later he takes off to Freo

Because of this I refuse to get players numbers on my back anymore because you never know when they'll break your heart :'(

That said I got given a #23 Bernie Vince guernsey as a present this year

Here's a bit of a sad tale haha. Bought my first two guernseys without numbers and then finally this year I was awarded with a guernsey for going to all games this season at our loss against GWS at the G. Out of all the players on our list that was playing that day, there was only one player that I didn't want to get presented with a guernsey from and of course I bloody got him... Number 8 :(

You've gotta take one for the team and get a Spencer/Terlich/Matt Jones guernsey.

The only jumper I've ever owned was bought in '94 & I got a 2 put on the back. Unless you buy jumpers quite regularly I wouldn't advise anyone to have a number on their back nowadays.

I have had one number in my life, I will never wear another.

The No 2 of Robert Flower.

Funnily enough, the only photo of me wearing the jumper is at Mt Buller during ski season (circa 1981). I also got to see his first final live & sadly his last, all within a few weeks.

Appropriate really.

5. Not for the Ox though but big Earl Spalding

Lol, No. 5 for the Duke was my second jumber. Robbie's No. 2 was the first.

After big Earl was shipped to Carlton I switched to 19 for Darren Bennett and then went back to No. 2 for Stinger. I wore that for probably 10 years and then grew out of wearing the jumper (literally ;), probably 15kg over my "playing weight").

Didn't get my first proper Dees jumper til I was 21, promptly got 35 on it for Luke Tapscott.

That said, my game day choice is #11 with Reach on the front.

I have a 35 for Tappy as well, but my first numbered jumper was a 27 for Riv..

Always wanted a jumper with 5 as a kid, Ox was a freak pre Knees

This would be like buying gold the day before everyone stopped admiring it. Except no one really ever admired Tapscott so a better example is probably buying stock in a craft beer which your mate brewed that seemed like a good idea at the time before you realised how flat it actually tasted.
