Real men cook on charcoal (and so do I)

Love charcoal smokers but such a pain in the backside compared to the pellet smokers. Underrated is the good old charcoal rotisserie, perfect for standing around and smashing cans whilst pretending it's hard work whilst the women make the salads/sides.

We use the spit quite often and charcoal is the best (so much better than heat beads)

Did a roast port on the spit last night for dinner. Gives great crackling every time as well

I had a charcoal smoker originally but then went full cheat mode and got a gas one. Easy as pie.

Was a rough old morning at Barnsworth central this morning, with our hardest worker suffering a workplace injury.

The coffee machine blew an O-ring!

Luckily I noticed a few weeks back that it was missing a chunk and thought: "I should probably replace that at some stage" so I'd ordered in some spares.

Regardless, my first coffee was delayed by 23 minutes this morning. It was a harrowing experience for all involved.

I think everything's OK now, but I might need to pop into The Village Belle front bar this evening for some post trauma counselling. Can never be too careful.

It's our end of fin year party next Friday, and I am gonna have to go into the office next Friday for the full day because my new house is further away from the city than my old place. If I was still at my old place I could have just left home at 4 and been there by 5.

Last night I looked up houses in Kingsley in Perth and then country Toodyay and I thought wtf, these all seem a LOT more expensive since I last looked maybe a year ago.

After being made redundant I'm spoilt for choice in terms of new roles. They're all very good opportunities (well 4 are anyway), I'm just worried about picking the right one basically. Not sure I could really go too wrong, of course a lot of poor bastards don't have any (or more than one).

They're all BDM roles (one is a state manager), honestly they can have a high turnover so not surprised I have a few options but some have very solid prospects which I know for sure because I've worked with them before. I was at my last role for 4 years which is a long time for a IT BDM believe it or not so I can afford a risk at this point.

Now that I'm settled into my new workplace, there really isn't enough work to keep me busy rn and I spend half my day looking at an empty inbox

The main part of the job is comparing/updating spreadsheets. Most of which I can't action until someone sends them to me with updates on their side.
They usually do this Wed/Thur/Fri which means Monday/Tuesday I'm twiddling my thumbs
However I'm cautious about taking on more because I've been told it can be pretty busy in the period coming. Although they said that about before EOFY so taking it with a grain of salt

That's not to say there is nothing to do earlier in the week but definitely not 8 hours a day worth unless someone has ****ed up royally

If you work mostly with spreadsheet data, invest your downtime into learning the Microsoft Power Platform - specifically:

• Power Query
• Power Pivot
• Power BI
• Power Automate
• Power Apps

Depending on what kind of work you’re doing, some will be more useful than others - but collectively they’ll almost certainly allow you to save a bunch of time and produce really slick outputs.

EDIT: Power Automate and Power Apps are mostly O365, but they’ve recently made Power Automate Desktop a free download for anyone with Windows 10 and it’s worth checking out.
