Great reading everyone else's stories and different perspectives on the day. It's made my day at work today, so thanks guys :)

Oh god the anger.... I don't think I had ever been this frustrated with umpires before...

Actually, I didn't really notice the umpires during the match, there were a few decisions that pissed me off at the time, such as a couple of non-paid frees in the forward line (they missed an obvious one to Bird in the 4th quarter which should have been a mark or free) but I didn't dwell on them too much because I was too absorbed in the match. We won so who cares :D

Great photos as well bonz!

Actually, Stat, the last team to lose a grand final after leading at 3/4 time was St Kilda in 2009. But I felt a lot better going into the last quarter with the lead, regardless... though apparently it was the first time ever there had been a one-point margin at 3/4 time in a grand final. But one thing I learned this year was stats are just stats, they aren't always predictive of the future. [/end serious discussion]

But... I have to say... you nickname your dad's stepdaughter Birth Control?! #sadface Imagine the therapy bills when she gets older

I think I gave her that nickname when SM was burning my pancakes.

Totally agree, thanks Vonn for a great topic I don't think we have lived it up enough considering all the other scandals over KT and COL!

After reliving my memories of that day and despite the fact that their is housework, gardening and a car to wash I am now watching the replay again for about the 1,000 time!

Not to her face. But I don't think i would care if I did say it to her face. She's terribly annoying. But no, it was Vonn's nickname for her.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Caught a train from fairfield to strathfield and then got on the countrylink train from sydney to melbourne, was an 11hr trip, got next to no sleep, was the worst train trip ever, but i didnt matter we were all to pumped!!!!!

SATURDAY: Got into southern cross in melbourne at 7am, first time being in melbourne, why is the river so brown? We walked down to crown casino and had breakfast and and do what you do in a casino. We then walked to the MCG and waited outside for an hour before we went in when the gate opened. First time at the MCG and it is massive. I was freezing but when the game started it was increadible. The best game I have ever been t. In the first quarter i was scared that hawthorn were going to get on top and we didnt have a chance, but likily in the second i was over the moon and couldn't hide my excitment. Half way through the third I thought that we had won it because we were starting to really dominate, but when they came back half way through the 4th, my cousin said we won't win, when I heard him I had a sinking feeling, but I never gave up hope, and when we started to come back again, we were all going off. When we go infront I was so nervous especiall for the 5 minute period when they had a few shots on goal and missed. My legs couldn't stop shaking and we were all just willing us on to win. When Malceski kicked the goal and the whole stadium erupted we went bezurk and when the siren went not to long after we just hugged random swans fans and kept on going bezurk. Greatest sports feeling Ive ever had. After the game we walked back to southern cross and caught a train at 7.30 back up to sydney. The trip was short but oh so sweet!!!

GO THE SWANS!!!!!!

You are a dick.

EDIT: I forgot to add something to mine, later on that night I was with some Collingwood members and an Essendon one, who told me that grand final was one of the best they'd seen and that Sydney were now their second team. The legitimacy of that comment is doubtful but it was nice to see how universally respected we are nevertheless.

This was before the whole Tippett thing though :p

had to reduce them to fit here, but you get the idea. I also had dozens of unusable ones, but enough to record the day.

Second quarter I've forgotten a lot of, apart from our unbelievable comeback, though I can't pinpoint specific moments. Were the Morton snaps in this quarter? Just remember screaming "SUCK IT GRIM" after his second and dancing around. When Reid kicked one and we were ripping them up through the middle I was feeling a lot better.

And you haven't been permanently banned yet how??? :p

Grand Final week could not come at such a worst time for me and against a worst team. Don't me get me wrong happy that we made it but with me basically planning for 6 months a holiday in Europe that sees me fly out of Melbourne 48 hours after the final siren. 2012 WAS NOT the year I was planning on the Swans making the Grand Final a) due to the costs involved b) I really don't want to spend 24 hours on a plane with a hangover and c) I don't want to spend 24 hours with a hangover going over and over what we could of done better if we had lost.

Still once it was clear we weren't going to be beaten in the Prelim against Collingwood, my focus turned to the Adelaide vs Hawthorn Prelim as if Hawthorn won it meant going up in a Grand Final against the side of my best mate. We was the first person, friend or family in 05 that wasn't at the ground to contact me and in 08 I turn into a Hawks fan for a day to return the favor, so that was a good day with one on us burning a Cats "Back to Back" T-Shirt at the Cricketers Arms in the merriment of the Hawks Premiership. Even been to a few Hawks matches this year, just to get on the booze. We both knew this wasn't a match up that would be good for us. But bloody Adelaide lost and the 2012 Grand Final for me become mate vs mate and a race to finish packing and planning my trip to Europe. Just to decide what hangover I would have on the plane.

One of my bright ideas to save money for Europe was to forgo my Membership, no big deal I thought at the time....well come August I was regretting that decision but come the Monday I had a few feelers out that weren't successful. Was offered two tickets but my mate wouldn't go in on the second ticket. So that was that regarding being there. I knew what it was like to be there and win (05) and be there and lose (06), so I told myself at least I've been to a winning Grand Final, regardless of the outcome and still to this very second I don't regret not being there.

So I spent the rest of the week, booking hotels, trains, and tickets to other events in Europe and crossing items off my "to pack" list. Week flies by and team being named is basically a non-event in the end. Living close to Waverley the one day I catch public Transport is the day and time they hold their open training session. They don't seem so cocky, hmmm. Then its time for Friday and the parade, pissing down with rain. Agreed to meet my mate in the city and watch the Presentation, players look relaxed and there was more support for us than I expected. Got a call from a few friends to meet them for lunch back towards Flinders Street, so me and my mate first drop in on my old man who works on Collins Street to get his opinion. Then head off for lunch and a few drinks.

Saturday I head in early to Auburn Road Hawthorn for breakfast. Thanks to my mother she turned that little area into a little strip of Red and White. Alot of wellwishes as well which was surprising for Hawthorn, but I guess the Hawks fans moved out long ago. Got the train to East Richmond and met my mate at a pub close by the MCG so we would dash to the ground after the match regardless who won. Ordered a few Pints and some food and picked a good spot in front of the Big Screen.

Noticed that Heath Shaw and Ben Reid were there downing a few jugs before heading off to the MCG to watch their brothers play, explains Heath's behavior after the game when Rhyce was being interviewed. So after all the build up the game finally started and the tone of the day was set. 15 minutes before the first from Hawthorn which we got the quick fluke reply from Malceski. Then they hit us....bang, bang, bang, bang. Quarter Time and hope was looking lost. My mate said he remembers Round 6 still, I said I need a drink.

So with drinks at the ready, hope almost gone the second quarter started and boy did things change quickly. Even when Goodes went off and it was clear his knee was being looked at, I felt we would leave everything on the table. Sure enough Goodes came back on knee strapped up and had a hand in both of Morton's goals which left me in a state of disbelief. Half Time came and my drinks were called for, called my father who wisely pointed out Round 22.

With the start of the third term come 2 goals but we ate up just on half the quarter. I wasn't too concerned when Hale slotted the Hawks first goal in over a quarter and half. But 3 quickfire goals and I knew the Hawks were coming at us. Then from the bounce they got a goal to hit the front and I thought if we don't one before three quarter time we are toast. We finally managed to slow the play down and then Sam Mitchell gave away a 50 meter penalty and slotted it home.

Three quarter time was just more drinks, a few nervous words between me and my mate, before agreeing that may the best team win and no offense to be taken. That out of the way, the Hawks quickly jumped to a 2 goal lead and even vonn would of seen the need to take Mumford off to get Parker on, 5 minutes later it was done and the with the play on our terms Hannerbury slotted one of the coolest goals under pressure I have seen. Then Morton did the one thing he was in the side to do, put pressure on defenders and got the ball moving toward Jack but despite Young looking like he had it covered slipped and Jack was in. Back in it. Then enter Goodes...nothing more to add.

Finally we knew the Hawks would come back at us, Grunston missed a shot he would normally kick, then Stewell was too rushed on two kicks. That allowed us to clear and set up the final play with Malceski winning it for us. Que Mayhem....

Shook my mate hand and proceeded to sing the song loud and proud. He went to get me a celebration beer and I watched the coverage as I called my family. Toast the raising of the cup and then me and my mate hailed a taxi for the MCG. Got into the ground just as the players were leaving the ground. Met up with people I knew and partied while we waited for the players to come back out. After all that was off to South Melbourne for pizza with some of the old BF crew - ERT says hi - me and my mate went to the Liquorland and got a sizeable amount of beer each. He was a good sport, only Hawk in bunch of Swans in the middle of South Melbourne.

Got home around 6am, too late to bother going back the Lake Oval. Had a hangover on the plane, but the moral of the story at least I wasn't the Hawks fan that was on my flight. He wasn't too happy with my Go Swans leaving the plane in Heathrow:D

and some others at a nearby pub (can't recall it's name but officially purchased my most expensive burger ever there. It cost $20 and still tasted worse than Macca's).

It was the Imperial and you were warned but no Robbie and bedford chose the pub

Ate a sausage. Was the best food I had in Melbourne.

Dear god this year when you come up for the repeat let me choose the restaurants... not bonzaburgers
