Since it's only a couple of games, wouldn't it be both beneficial and entertaining for the fans if you had a few recent star players/assistant coaches play?

Put Matthew Lloyd at FF next to Joe Daniher, for example.

With reduced game time and a specialised, coaching role, it could help you better prepare for Round 1.

That would pretty good.

Hardingham was in the twelve whose names were outed in Feb/March last year. You'd think those 12 would be among the 34 with INs. Therefore, I'm not sure how he could play.

Who the hell really knows, though? Bunk Moreland, where did you hear that?

Maybe we don't mind his suspension not being backdated as he's only VFL?

Would surprise me though.

Hows it due to the AFL?
It was the AFL's intention to scapegoat Essendon and Hird for the benefit of limiting the focus of this investigation. It may be a bit too tin-foil hat for some to swallow, but it is incomprehensible to me that if Dank has broken any anti-doping laws that it would be limited to this one time at one club that he ordered the wrong thymosin.

We wouldn't be in this situation if it wasn't for the advice of Demetriou et al and the subsequent actions of Evans, which set us up to take the fall. Ducks lined up, tickets sold.

Agreed. The 2012 players still there are (correct me if I'm wrong):

Hibberd, Bellchambers, Watson, Stanton, Winderlich, O'Brien, Zaharakis, Baguley, Dempsey, Pears, Melksham, Hurley, J Merrett, Heppell, Carlisle, Myers, Browne, Steinberg, Hooker, Kavanagh, Fletcher, Colyer, Dalgleish, Hocking, Howlett I believe. Which leaves:

Chapman, Daniher, Z Merrett, Goddard, Cooney, Ashby, Edwards, Giles, Ambrose, Langford, Laverde, Long, Gleeson, Kommer (inj), Hams, Gwilt, Aylett, McKernan, McKenna, Fantasia, plus top ups. So a theoretical side (with however many VFL top ups we need) might look like:

Ashby - Freezer (VFL) - Gleeson
McKenna - Gwilt - Edwards
Cooney - Goddard - Laverde
Chapman - Daniher - Z Merrett
Fantasia - McKernan - Langford
Giles - Hams - Aylett
Long - Ambrose - Polkinghorne (VFL) - Schroder (VFL) - Tagliabue (VFL) - Marigliani (VFL)
Coghlan (VFL) - Heavyside (VFL)

I did an exercise of putting a side together, using the side they had in the Herald Sun today, just to see what it would look like. I kept taking out the players potentially loaning themselves to the club, in favour of your own young kids.

I know it may not work out like this, because some of yours may be injured, or like someone else said may not want to play all NAB cup matches, but there isn't too many you need to field a side.

How does this look?
B: Brent Guerra James Gwilt Campbell Brown
HB: Jason Ashby Michael Hartley Clinton Jones
C: Brock McLean Brent Moloney Adam Cooney
HF: David Zaharakis Joe Daniher Paul Chapman
F: Zach Merrett Shaun McKernan Patrick Amrose
R: Jonathan Giles Brad Sewell Brendan Goddard
I: Kyle Langford Jayden Laverde Martin Gleeson Elliott Kavanagh
E: Nick O'Brien Shaun Edwards Lauchlan Dalgleish Will Hams
Conor McKenna Ariel Steinberg Jake Long Orazio Fantasia

Kurt Aylett and Nick Kommer injured perhaps, so those two out. If Kommer isn't, he would come into the side.

The 34 players I think would be;

1. Hooker
2. Carlisle
3. Myers
4. Browne
5. Heppell
6. Pears
7. Melksham
8. Hurley
9. Hibberd
10. Bellchambers
11. Watson
12. Stanton
13. J.Merrett
14. Winderlich
15. Baguley
16. Dempsey
17. Fletcher
18. Colyer
19. Howlett
Hille
Hocking
Lovett Murray
Del'Olio
Monfries
Crameri
Gumbleton
Lonergan
McVeigh
Jetta
Dyson
Ryder
Hardingham
Davey
Reimers

So in effect 19 players with notices can't play. In normal circumstances, a team could cover say 8-9 injuries. Leaving you 10 short of the worst injury case.

Guerra, C.Brown, C.Jones, B.McLean, B.Moloney and B.Sewell would give you great coverage for 6 if they play. Michael Hartley as has been rumoured may be played because he is a key defender type.

Other players that might come in if they agreed, as per the article in the Herald Sun today are;

Daniel Jackson
Josh Bootsma
Aaron Edwards
Alex Georgiou
Setana O'Hailpin
James Polkinghorne
Stephen Milne
Jordan Schroder
Shane Tuck
Orren Stephenson
Luke Ball
Jordan Lisle
Lenny Hayes
Tom Young
Ben Hudson
Jared Petrenko
Jake King
Joel Wilkinson
Matthew Warnock
Liam Anthony
Josh Hunt
Danny Butcher
Kyal Horsey
Richard Tambling
Kyle Martin

If you managed to loan Luke Ball, Lenny Hayes and Daniel Jackson, it looks quite impressive. Key defenders are of shortage though. Matthew Warnock, Joel Wilkinson, Jordan Lisle or O'Haipin may be good stop gaps.

Added to the Suns list, I put Daniel Jackson, Danny Butcher as other possibles.

It would be funny of the Bombers got up with a few of these possibilities. Players like Hayes, Ball, Jackson, McLean, Guerra, Sewell, Brown and Hunt would not look out of place taking the field, that's for sure.

Campbell Brown.

In terms of entertainment, yes, but I think they're more suited to the EJ Whitten match now.

Is anyone else far more interested in watching Essendon's NAB cup games because of this complete shamble of a system? Seriously will be interesting to watch James "The Magnet" Magner as I'm shocked he isn't on an AFL list somewhere. Also we will get far more time to look at our rookies and younger players in the engine room then we would normally.

So am I right in saying that because Kavanagh was on the list in 2012 that he is going to stall the first pre-season he is actually destroying and not play warm up games even if he isn't currently before the tribunal?

How utterly ******* stupid.
But is it confirmed that Kav doesn't have a notice?
