Played a local public course in Perth

Had never broken 50 before over 9

Missed a 3 footer on the last hole to do so

**** this game.

Don't let it worry you, it'll just make it even better when you do it :thumbsu:

Played like absolute shit, but I think I got my PB for longest drive I have done (which remained in play :P ) which was around 290m.

Thinking of playing the Airport course tomorrow, if there is minimal wind I may go and fly through the back 9.

Played Southern last week for a client marketing day. Nice course, though some of the greens on the back nine looked like they'd been eaten by some type of bug - a lot of the grass had died right off. Not much rough and relatively easy to miss the water hazards.

Old Course @ the national.

all greens have been relaid, and some fine tuning to greens surroundings have been made. no wind (peninsula standards), bright sunny day. beautiful.

low 20s in points with many many wipes. not a long course, but tight tree lined fairways. if you're in the trees its snack country.

the most stunningly visually magnificent course at the Nat.

How does it compare to Cape Schanck? That's as close as I've been, unfortunately..

hi nero.

cape schank is a very good course. although havent played it for i think 5 years or so.

CS accommodation looks over the old course, over a hole on the back 9. nice.

the old course is like a painting. a delight on the retina. i cant remember much from CS other than i had a good time. to compare would be unfair i think.

played yering (Croydon GC) on friday. enjoyable although much water. my crap game translated itself onto the scorecard. shank here and there, and everywhere. lots of flies too.

I was up there a few weeks back too, it is better than it used to be since they started cutting the rough so you can actually find your ball. Greens were lightning last time too..was happy with just the one double for the round! Which 18 did you play?

it was a corp day, think i played 10-18, 1-9. anyway, greens were slow as which made it difficult for one who is used to putting on glass. dont mind the place, prefer other courses however.

I've played it maybe half a dozen times. If you get back there, try to play 19-27. Holes 23-27 are good fun.

Played Pacific Golf Club today (my local course which I'm about to become a member of once again). It was my first round (only played 9 holes today) of golf in 8 years.

Scored 48 (+12).

Handy 1st up performance

what handicap did you get down to previously?

The last time I played I was 13 or 14 years old and didn't have an official handicap at that time. I just played in the junior comps etc.

good luck with it, greatest game ever where 2 holes are never the same

Thanks. It's funny, I started playing when I was 10 and played as much as I could until I was 13/14. I come back 8 years later and the swing is still there! I guess a good mix of golf tuition and practice at an early age pay dividends later on.

Played my last couple of rounds with low handicap golfers, 2, 3 & 5.

They approach the game completely differently to what i did.

they purely look at a hole and decide where they want to hit there next shot from, most par 4's they take 3 woods and hybrids or irons to a position on the fairway so they have a full short iron to the green. Anywhere between 85 -140 seemed to be there desired range

well i tried it and who knew but thinking around a golf course rather than trying to rip it 280 meters every time off the tee actually works, and its a lot less stressful.

Anyone else ever tried playing a round and removing the driver from their bag?

Im a hack, so take my words for what they are, but I went a long period without playing a driver and doing the long iron/hybrid thing off the tee.

For the shorter courses in Perth it worked relatively well, but for longer courses I still wanted to be reaching in two which was impossible when playing a 3H off the tee. As such, I was going for to much, trying to hit too hard etc... which put me in more problems later on.

However, if better players are playing a 300m par three then obviously playing something shorter to leave yourself a nine iron in is far better then smashing it in playing with an weird half pitch etc...

One weird side effect was that once I came back to using a driver was that I without any other coaching or thought process somewhat modified my swing with a driver to be flatter and straighter which certainly helped in the long term even if I was giving away 20m off the tee.
