Done that 100 times. It’s what makes it a great short par 4. Gets you excited then smacks you down.
I hope the rest of the day went well.
Pin was hard right! Bitch of a pin!!!

Great day, played ok. Didnt lose a ball. Scored better than last week but really let self down with poor shots and putts. not comfortable and it was a grind at times

Just because other people like it doesn’t mean I have to does it?

Too hard a hole for me who predominantly hits a draw to hold the green with what was a long iron into the wind. Another member of our group played with a lady who is a member and the pro at the club advises her to layup short of the bunkers.

Nit a great hole imo.
As sideswipe was I think suggesting there is a difference between whether a hole is a great hole and whether it suits your particular game!

In your case you need to stand on that hole and think hard about what strategy you should best employ to get the ball in the lowest number of shots given it doesn't naturally suit your eye. The lady you speak about has to do the same. This is one of the great charms of the game and highlights its cerebral nature.

The 3rd at KH which is also discussed in this forum also is another magnificent hole that offers similar "shades of grey".

Would you prefer to play the above hole at Araluen - which despite the eye candy surroundings - is essentially a straight par 3 to a seemingly flat green where you could hit a fade or a draw and just need to laser the yardage and point/shoot?

2 over for 9 tonight. Just continue to play really solid golf. Even hit a beautifully controlled cut off the tee that lead to a birdie. Actually feel like I could play better. Chunked a chip when thinking about a conversation rather than the shot, and need to make a few 10+ footers. And a bit of luck. Had 152m to the pin on a par3, had the wind behind, hit 8i and flew the green. Couldn't get up and down. As I said a few days ago, I feel a PB coming on or I'll lose my swing. I'm hoping it's the former.

You were flying about a month ago weren't you?

Yes I was, middle of Jan into middle of Feb. 5 flag rounds in succession. Went from 12.2 into 9.6.
Now 10.1 and playing to 15-20.
Mental. Thinking too much. 🤷‍♂️

It's just amazing how this game can go from chocolate's to boiled lollies. Same course, same clubs. Just gets in your head. I think part of being a golfer is learning to accept this. I call it 'the golfing tide'. It comes in, it goes out and there's almost nothing you can do about it. Sometimes for weeks, sometimes within a round. I'd love to think that after nearly 40 years of playing the game I could cope when the water recedes, but alas, it gets us all.
The only cure I've found is to head to the range and just hit as many balls as it takes to turn it around. But that takes time many of us don't have. Some have coaches they can go to. But this issue afflict Pro's as much as amateurs. It's eternally frustrating.

For me it is about understanding your own swing. I get muddled up as the next person...with probably 15 different things that have worked really well at times. I probably need that un**** your golf swing book. I will go out try something and find it works superb and think I have nailed it...half an hour later and the results are the exact opposite.

I was always a pretty good ball striker (bit off direction but no trouble with fats and thins at all) but that has changed for me. And it is so god dam frustrating dealing with horrible feeling shots that I really did not experience for a long period.

Nailed it down to 3 things for me with irons which I almost need tattooed on me!

1. Left arm straight as any folding stuffs me with back hip pocket turning towards target.
2. Probably the most important one for me is sliding towards the target and getting my weight onto my lead side after/at transition. I think as I am ageing I'm getting lazy/unathletic as time goes by. I remember early golf lessons the pro saying move your belt buckle towards your target. I've tinkered with stack and tilt just starting on the my left side and strikes feel so much more pure. But I am clueless what to do with driver etc. doing this.
3. Make sure I have lag at impact.

Those 3 things are sequential and I can kind of think of them swinging without too much trouble...if I add another I'm cooked.

Then there is Driver and it's different for me.

1. Straight arm/turn properly as with irons

and 2. hit with an in to out path...trying to hit (if your looking down on your ball) the part of the ball that is 3 to 6 o'clock. That's it.

Then there's chipping/putting and everything else that can be different from week to week.

I also find it hard to concentrate shot after shot as well with the distractions from what has happened on previous shots, what people and things going on around you during a game of golf. I suppose that's what would take me up to the next level and something that pros are exceptional at. Switching on and off to what's really important.

My memory is not as great anymore as well that doesn't help when I am struggling. That's why I am trying to really isolate the things that matter. Probably a post for technique sorry about that.
