Jacks Point today.

Very nice scenery which is unique. Hitting balls into the mountain backdrop is breathtaking.

Lots of hits, lots of shit shots. lots of putts on the slow arse greens. lots of poo. But fun. Rough is similar to nationals which i am accustomed to.

practiced more afterwards. Then had lunch from a very truncated menu which was disappointing. Good facilities and played with a kiwi who played at national, pk and Metro recently. we shared stories.

I found it a nice vibe having a drink and snack outside; I didn’t like the look of the more formal arrangement.

After a poor round last week, I hit a big bag of balls at the range this afternoon to get my swing back. Went to hit some chips and saw nobody on the tees so stuck 9 in. 1 over. Who'd of thought hitting 100 balls before a round would help? 14 putts, 5 GIR and a chip in.

Played at Portsea this morning.
Probably the worst place to play when you have gout in your big toe, its hot and humid and you stupidly decide to walk.
Nearly quit after a front 9 which yielded on 7 pts, but stuck it out.
17 pts for the day, worst I’ve played in years…l’m blaming the gout and the heat.

Joondalup Quarry/Dune today. No balls lost.
Stitched up by my playing partners on the first. Balls around the same area, 2 of them told me one by the bunker was mine. Hit a beautiful 7 wood just short of the green; partner goes to ball in the bunker - Noel you just hit my ball. Bugger. Little competition between 4 of us, took the 2 strokes, then still beat the bastards on net score. Kept the green jacket.
9 on the first hole of quarry, finished with an 8 over 44.
50 on Dune, really faded toward the end. Joondalup's a big walk.

The Cut today. Ball lost with the second shot on the first hole, ended the hole with a triple. Composed myself to finish 7 over at the turn, 1 more ball lost in water on the 7th.
Things went to shit on the back 9. Missed a couple of drives by not much, but enough to lose balls and add penalty strokes. 4 putted a couple of times, wind got up a bit, it got a bit tough.
Finished on a ton. 57 on the back 9, 5 balls total lost. 4 balls found, lost 2 of them though. So, 1 under?
Araluen tomorrow.

Hoping to get a round in next week when I have the week off for baby prep and relaxation. Odds are slim but see if the back holds up for a round or two.

Hopefully peternorth is back from his worldly tour and needs a +1 at the National / PK to ease back into Melbourne life.

Those mountains look great PN. What's the course like?
The course is good. I mean, yes the greens are slow and fairways dont run as much as here, as thats golf. Different sand of course to ours, ball practically sits up due to the grain size. A few blind shots characterised by undulations and mounds limiting your line of sight. I think due to the lack of run and roll, it plays like perhaps an american course.

Hitting shots into a mountain backdrop is surreal.

The hardest part of the course is the spectacularness of it. You get drawn in by the views and focus less on the golf. This should be factored into the slope rating i feel.

Its like when seamen are lured to their deaths by mermaids, or in this scene from LOTR. Basically anything that seduces you like elves of Rivendale. Then you gotta hit your ball and forget what shot you gotta hit

You also get distracted by light aircraft taking off and landing in the field next to the property behind the range. skydivers float downwards and you can hear them yell and scream.

I think ill go back next year to have another go and have a better detailed answer.

My son jumped out of one. I have a pic of him screaming for his life. Poor kid probably soiled his undies.

Araluen today,no balls last.
Played the back 9 first, poor finish for a 49. Followed on from that with a poor start on the first for a triple. Up and down until the 7th 8th and 9th, where I parred, birdied and bogeyed to keep it under 100, and the win, with a 97. 5 pars and 1 birdie, yet still25 over. The greens can be very tough, and off the fairways and gravelly bunkers are extremely unforgiving.

Three in three days.

Black Bull - 75

My grandparents are out Yarrawonga way, and I went for a hit at the range with my pop last time I visited them, looks very nice out there!
