To right it was impossible at the Dunes.
Daily rating was +3!
Only time I’ve seen it higher was a +4 a couple of months back.
One of my playing partners won the comp with 36pts, exceptional rd from him.
I finished just outside the top 10 with 28pts.
Was ok off the tee, putting was almost impossible, 42 putts.
On the 12th I hit a 7W through the green from 185m out.
Next hole par 3 into the wind same club 135m.
It was blowing. I spent an hour or so on the short game area at Melbourne Golf Academy. Was hilarious to see bunches of balls sitting on the chipping green area all get blown collectively across when gusts came through.

We could put me up there but not sure you can write in an infinity symbol for my handicap

Played Werribee in a round of club championship for one of my social clubs, playing off 21 shot 95 with 33 putts. it was what i called a could been round, could of been better, could have been worse. Lucky for me the rest of the A grade players on the day were a little worse than me, and was the days winner for A grade.

Got out of work early. Played the back 9, 3 over. Thursday I played the front, 1 over. What a stupid game we play. Shows how much of it is in your head. Don't play for 2 months and you won't miss.
Still need consistency shot to shot, but my short game has been incredible. Got up and down from 110m, standing under a tree.
Only one way to go from here unfortunately.

Decent start for Alex. Cut line for tomorrow currently sitting at +1

Probably needs a 72 to ensure safety. 70 would help for Thursday's final cut.

Guess I can get a second job as cut line prognosticator. Weather moved in and suspended play. However, looks like cut line will indeed be +2. Most of the field got the round in.

Alex started on back 9 for his second round. Tough stretch 16-18 unfortunately is his undoing. Just couldn't get putts to drop on front 9 (his back 9 today).

This was/is a big boy tournament. Ohio State, Kent State and a host of colleges with kids from Ohio are playing. Got a taste of what awaits after his upcoming senior year of high school.

What chance is he of a college scholarship offer at this stage do you think AC?

Youngstown State offers to all local kids with talent--so he has that one. I think low to mid major D1 is his range. Based on his size and ball striking. The old--we can teach him to chip and putt, but can't teach him to hit it 300 plus, either can or can't hit it that far, philosophy.

He is 6'4, hits it 300 off tee, so the schools like that. Needs to improve the putting--tee to green he matched up with all the big boys last 2 days. Putting separated men from the rest of field.

Honestly, he needs the right coach at the next level. Get the right coach, then maybe we see him do well in college.

Exciting times - landing a spot on a D1 roster is a sign of serious game. All the best with it.

Is the team song for Youngstown State the immortal Springsteen song of the same name?

That made me laugh out loud for real.

Alex has talent---this summer he has been in contention more often than not, so his consistency has improved.

Got lucky at Hudson Invitational when weather allowed his first round 71 to hold up. That has opened some doors to other events and provided him some opportunities he would not have gotten otherwise.

Hard for me still not to think how all this began was as something to do on his weekend with me when he was 7 years old--took him to par 3 course nearby where I lived at time. Couldn't have imagined what he has done with it since.

I’m on Team Golf Sucks after today.
Was striking the ball beautifully on the range pre round.
Parred first 2 holes, felt good, wiped my 5th hole but still had 17 pts front 9.
Wiped next 3 holes, driver shaft snapped in half and ended up on 26 pts.
Putted well ( for me) 32 putts, but just can’t translate range striking onto the course.
