Got the chipping yips something shocking at the moment. Anything inside 50m from the green I absolute dread lately. Been grinding away practicing in my spare time last few weeks and it looks great in practice but still shit on the course.

That and bunkers absolutely destroyed me last weekend. Had 32 points with 5 wipes.

Try to take your hands/wrists out of play. Chip with your shoulders and focus on your chest turning to target. Worked for me.

Yep, works great in practice. Just tense up on the course.

There’s only so many Dan Grieve YouTube videos I can watch. Might ask for his book for Father’s Day haha

He makes it so simple.
Release 2 I can do 5 times in the warm up…then blade one over the green. Still too chicken to try on the course.

Has anyone seen the weatherman episode of curb your enthusiasm? I reckon we’ve had a couple of Saturday’s in the past month that were forecast to be bad weather and ended up perfectly fine. Today being one of them. Not a drop of rain despite the forecast.

Mutiple stableford. Started terrible, 3 wipes in first 5. Battle back with 27 point in the last 13 holes, 21 on the back.

Combined for 60.

However, the headline news was our playing partners. One of them had 10 wipes! They combined for 21. Ouch.

Just a hit at the peninsula kwood gc. Form is on the wane but kept moving forwards without circling back. Started with a crap ball, put it into the bag and replaced it with a better one. Finished with said better one. Probably had 90. Gees thats poor.

Okay, which one of you was late to your tee time...

The pilot did bloody well(presumably after doing something bloody poorly) to get it onto the golf course with no engine. Northern beaches are pretty much either heavily housed or heavily treed. Not a lot of choices.

Would think it was mechanical issue

Second plane on a course in a couple months.

What is the condition of the sandbelt courses during the winter months like?

And when do they usually core?

Is April/May usually still an ok time to visit?
They are always excellent

KH in mint condition. Expect the others also. Too early for coring, sanding.
We do ours week before Christmas then maybe around Easter when there’s still growth.

April/May almost the best time to visit. Feb-Mar probably better to get the full sandbelt experience but they will still be hard. Your Queensland high loft big bounce wedges will not be your friend!

About the worst time is now - peak dormancy - but still awesome lies on fairways of the good courses(RM fringes excepted).

You might need some warm gear though!

Mid-April a good time to visit. Pennant golf still in swing around then so no one will likely have cored and the fairways won't be dormant.

May good too.

I should also have said that if you're planning on playing the likes of PK, Vic, Commonwealth I'm not sure any of those do a full heavy core any more with their newly constructed green complexes.

We have “ninja tines” which are much skinnier - about 2-3mm at a guess - and greens were being done mid round yesterday, ie a ground staff saw us on 9 fairway, rolled the machine off the green, the resumed after we putted out.

Not sure if that completely replaces a full coring - because tines don’t remove plugs, so that doesn’t help with compaction - but I think it reduces the amount of times they are needed
