I'd say conditioning is 80% of the experience. As long as that's there on any course it will be a better experience. One of my favourite courses is Palmer Coolum, but apparently now the conditioning is poor so people won't play it. The course is still the same layout.
I think Norman said that Metro had the best fairways in the country (would've been years ago to be fair). I was told recently that Lake Karrinyup is in poor condition, so the experience is less. I'd have both Coolum and LK in my top 5 for course layout.
My reason for wanting to play Metro IS the conditioning. To play a course whose standard is so much higher than anywhere else.
Dunno about 80%, but I agree conditioning is pretty bloody important - especially as far as the playing experience goes, which is all I care about - I'm no architecture geek.

Metro has a lot more to it than its perfect fairways. In the pouring rain yesterday, it was still close to impossible to hold a few of the greens on approach. And bouncing off greens into a bunker is almost a pleasure just to get to play out of them.

It's not at the same standard as Vic, KH & RM, but it's only one step below. Also wins a prize because it's 10-15 mins less of a drive each way than RM, etc., if you don't live bayside.

Haven't played the re-done Huntingdale but apparently it's awesome.

7 weeks since my last game.
Wrist surgery booked in for mid April...then many more months on the sidelines.
Reading these threads keeps me sane...keep posting everyone!

Has anyone had a wrist fusion, and how did it affect your game if you did?

That's tough going mate. Hope you recover well. Left or right? It'll surely be good for your putting?

2 man ambrose in the howling wind today at Waterford Valley. Shot even par which we were very happy with. I was expecting 4 or 5 over.
i was at national on thursday volunteering. it was so bad. and wet

Got my new lowest score with 83 for a net 67 in the monthly medal today. Hoping it'll be enough, looking forward to the handicap dropping some more.

Very frustrating day. 34 points, 29 putts but... only 1 fairway in regulation and that one hit a tree. Drove the ball like poo. Maybe worse than that. That happens though right?

Saturday

Par Comp
Finished +4 - wiped my final hole with a 5iron for safety hassle into a water hazard.
Driving was average - made my score with irons from 70- 145. Hit 5 or 6 of them inside 6foot.
Stableford today - 34 points, just a round with a hangover 😆😆

Lost my pennant much 1 down today at korumburra. Played a very good golfer and just hung in there, but could just not get up on him. He birdied 17 (the 8th - par 5) and I could only scramble for a square on the last, still made him make a winning putt though. Legs are sore, that place is one hell of a walk.

You had it easy. My pennant match went to the 23rd yesterday and I managed to somehow crawl over the line (despite some fine choking). These head to head battles really force you to play under real pressure and I'm sure make you a better player.

**** me I was exhausted by the end.

Jesus! Well done to get the W. Which course did you play?
