Ironic given my last post but just had the worst round of my life. I am so mentally weak. 67 off the back 9 at Malvern Valley. Duffed my first tee shot 6 metres it went and couldn't recover from that. Completely lost my swing, all muscle memory gone I just couldn't hit a ****ing ball. Almost cried honestly, just shattering given how much I try.

It happens. I went from hitting the ball well and shooting 85 which is close to my best to the next time playing slicing every iron shot wildly, stopped scoring and walked off angrily after 9. It would have been in 55-57 region. It took a couple of rounds to get back into rhythm again

Hang in there. Remember you are still just beginning really. You are going to have those days....and probably months when it all seems hopeless. Then something will click and you will find it (for a while). We have all been there.

Trust in what your pro is telling you...he is probably going to work on 6 or 7 things. But one at a time. And you may not see any results at all improving one thing perfectly....but improve them all over time...then Bingo.

Honestly mate that’s golf.
I’m 48 and have played since I was 7, been single figures at times when I’ve played regularly etc but can still easily have a day, out of nowhere usually when I’m at the top of my game where that same thing happens. Swing goes, you start overthinking, you don’t commit to shots(A death sentence for any shot or putt), timing and tempo goes, the lot. (ask anyone in here the time to get worried is when you start flushing everything!) and just as accurate is a saying a pro told me ages ago is when you are playing at your very worst, you’re actually very close to finding your best.
And as for the mental part that’s all of us, every single one of us otherwise we’d be pros.
My mates social golf club is called the Mental short people.
Just one of those days mate and the best thing to do whilst not easy, is just wipe it and next round focus mostly on and commitment to the swing, it’ll come back.

hang in there. Remember youre starting out and have a high handicap appropriately. I myself started at National GC off mid 30s. I was a club thrower, swearer etc. Then i realised hey norfy u a rookie. Lessons and practice and confidence and course knowledge later.....handicap down.

curb expectations, find your comfy club. If it's a wedge, hit that. Even off the tee. Hit it, hit it again, again and again. Enjoy.

I did throw my first club today, tossed my 7 iron 10 metres into the air :'(

I really hate the club throwing look. Sure I’ll laugh, cry, pick up the flag and chase my partner saying ‘You think it’s funny?’ but not a club throw.

Play a game of Matchplay with your partner instead of scoring. I had my worst round of golf scoring wise last weekend, but I played matchplay and it came down To the last hole so was still close and competitive. I would have had 20 points, but just managed to win enough holes to stay in it.

Thrown a few clubs in my time. It's rare though and I'm not sure I've ever done it when playing with people I'm not very good friends with though.

Some of the funniest stories I've had on the golf course are from friends of mine throwing clubs lol.

Never broken a club throwing it though. Snapped the head off a wedge by hitting the ground with it after a shit shot which i still think i was unlucky as i didn't hit it that hard.

My best club throw was nearly twenty years ago buying a cheap set for the missus so we could play together.
Third round in I threw the whole lot bag and and all in the drink! We both laughed and still do today.

I’m still a bit of a swearer. The club throwing stopped nearly 10 years ago as it got too expensive to fix clubs.

A mate threw a club years ago into the ground and the shaft snapped. Unluckily for him half the shaft speared into his thigh. They had to call an ambulance and that was the end of his round. 😂

One thing I hate about golf is the waste/pollution factor (all the wasted energy, materials on balls that go missing) but I do get a laugh when someone misses a putt from <2ft and the ball goes flying.

Never really been a club thrower, wss occasionally fond of slaming the club back to the bag
Have to be careful doing that even.
I’ve broken a few clubs over the years just from doing that or slamming it into the ground etc, puts a little weak spot in the shaft and then BANG! One day it’ll snap mid shot.. dangerous too! If it breaks in the wrong spot.

broke my 7 iron after an innocious lob wedge type throw up and down. didnt rotate the club at all. perfect break.

3w broke in transit to adelaide where upon i found out on the first tee at Kooyonga GC.

snapped driver approaching the first tee at NSW gc. fell off the back of the cart. the whole bag did. it was not a fun round.
