113 off the stick, 35 points. Mrs probably won’t come out again.

Smoked a 185m drive dead straight that landed 50m short of the green to help me to my only par of the day. On camera too so social media it is

Does anyone else here play with an overtly open clubface?

I'm still kind of getting used to my distances even though I've had these clubs for a decade or more - this is the first time I've been regularly using them.

So I have always been fairly long off the tee - 250-280 is fairly regular, the odd one might nudge 280-300 if the conditions are right.
But with any irons, whereas I used to be hitting an 8-iron 150+ when I was a teenager, I'm now hitting 6-irons 150m as a general rule. I get a lot of height from most clubs and it can be an asset when I'm hitting from the backblocks and over trees etc but it's costing me a bit of accuracy to have to use lower and lower irons to play shots I'd have hit with a 7-8 once upon a time.

Is there an easy way to close the face of my club a bit without risking a huge draw every shot I play?

I wish I opened the face more. A big part of my issues are not opening it

Most likely a grip issue.

Are you hitting draws/fades?

Had a bizarre 9 holes this morning before work (I'm on a late shift and have nothing better to do).

I didn't hit a fairway, or even need to repair a single pitch mark on a green, but had 48 off the stick (handicap would have me around 45-46 most days so not a total disaster), yet had not a single blow-out either. 4 incredibly poor chip shots that basically didn't improve my position one bit - i have a real issue with knowing whether to swing through the ball with a lob-wedge or try and chop down on it and punch it, invariably I take the wrong option.

First comp tomorrow. Hit 200 balls at the range today (plenty of time to practice when on holidays). Feeling good, was hitting my driver well

Good luck mate. If I could offer one bit of advice from my brief time playing comp golf, play the percentages. It's rare that you'll hit a tee shot so poorly that you can't at least recover a point so attack when you're in a good spot, play smart when you are not.

Thanks.

Going to be wet too up here (that never ****ing happens outside of a brief window in winter) so it will be interesting

Comp back tomorrow!

Got out for 18 today as well, an interesting round to say the least! Played some really good holes but 3 blow out holes (including a 14 [emoji23] which I have never been close to before, 3 lost balls in the bush!)

Ended up with 26 points which considering the bad holes wasn’t too bad

Enjoy the ride. Bogey golf. Natural game.

Scrapped it after 12 holes. My group had an 84 year old bloke so not worth him getting pneumonia. We were the last group hitting off in the comp so I couldn’t tack on to anyone else.

had 19 points from the holes played in wet and windy conditions so I was happy enough given what we were playing in, disappointed not to finish though. Rain was getting heavier and heavier and we are supposed to be getting hail soon too.

Had 31 points today, in good news the hole I had 14 on yesterday I managed to par it today in a nice turnaround!

The difference between my best and worst is vast and changes hole to hole, had 7 pars today with 5 genuine birdy chances... but too many double bogeys or the odd triple bogey keep sneaking in.

I'm positive I'll lose 2 or 3 balls, have 2 or 3 birdies and hopefully shoot 80ish
Oh my

Blow by blow tomorrow

33 points of uglee

First time playing Woodford, four pars and 28 points on the back 9, finished with a Birdie (my 2nd ever) for a total of 49.

Still did some stupid errors like getting to wedge range on a par 5 with my second shot and then duffing the wedge into the water 45° from my line 🥴

Fantastic course
