Very windy round at The Vines yesterday. Birdied the 2nd, followed up with a 10 on the next hole. 11 over st half time.
On fire on the back 9, moved to 14 over after 16. On the 17th, drive straight down the middle, 130 out, the bunker trouble. 2 to get out, then chipped into another bunker. Finished with a 9.
Last hole, fairway bunker, 2 to get out, then 4th shot into water. 6th shot, 20 metres off the green to the right, chipped in to finish with a double and a 21 over 93.
The roller coaster of an 18ish handicapper continues.

That’s breaking 18 by a few shots as far as your handicap calculation goes.

Club champs start tomorrow. West winds up to 50kmh forecast. Only one hole on the course is downwind of a westerly. The 18th. That might be a bit late in the day to repair earlier damage

A score in the low 90s at peninsula kingswood. Comfortable in the early morning, and warmer as the day progressed. Wind swung from a cooler to a hot wind by rounds end. 1 birdie. Enjoyed the round and happy to be off when we did.

Greens and fairway in absolutely usual condition

I think I'd rather play in rain than play in the wind we copped out there today. Horrendous score and horrendous conditions.

Only thing that made me feel a little better about myself was seeing the results and seemingly everyone else got the shit kicked out of them out there too.

We had 60kmh westerlies and then the smoke haze came in. Carnage everywhere. Field of 178. At 7pm blokes are still on the course. 5 beat their handicap.

Hit a low point in my golf journey today.
First time in living memory I didn’t par a single hole.
1 Birdie, 5 wipes, 23 pts, just disgraceful.
Managed to wipe the par 3 13th from 1 mt off the green.
4 putts from less than 4 mts.

Hit a bucket before the round, flushed everyone, 3rd time in a row I’ve done this and played horribly afterwards.
Going in cold from now on.

Once when I was off 12 I had 16 bogeys and two birdies in a stableford. 🙄

Had two hands on the monthly medal playing super in the windy conditions. Then one bad tee shot on 15 and it all went pear shaped.
Golf.
There is no doubt in my feeble mind that trying to close out a good - especially once you think about it - is bad for your golf.

Saturday was Comp again. My hcp remained 28 after my previous week's heroics! Apparently from the start of this year they changed the hcping system and new hcps will be worked out after 5 rounds.

Hit a 91 off the stick, which included an 11 on the par 5, ruined my round and still can't get it out my mind May try therapy before my next outing. Finished 3rd with a 63 after hcp. Winner finished with a 59.

Your handicap is about to get substantially lower. With that 11 turning into an 8 - or a 9 if it was a two shot hole - that 63 turns into a 60/61. That means an exceptional score so every previous scoring round goes down by 2. Add in that round and you will be well lower. Excellent!

Had a lesson yesterday to straighten out a few issues, and by the end of the hour was hitting some nice high flighted mid iron shots.

Comp today, and usually I play terribly first round after a lesson, but I was mostly striking the ball really nice today. My approach shots are my real issue at the moment, mostly down to accuracy and leaving the ball too far from the hole or off the green.

Continuing to fail to break the low 30’s glass ceiling and as a result my hcp is drifting back out into the 20’s. Play some good holes and some really nice shots but also have brain fades resulting in too many wipes.

Played the par 3’s horribly today, wiped two and 3 pts total out of the four holes.

Started even par for 7 points for the first two holes so maybe next time need to stretch that out to the first three and go from there.

Haven’t had a strong, stand out round for a while now. Hopefully it’s just around the corner.

Played golf at the national today. Just a hit. Poor score, just mentally unprepared. Lost a few balls. Didnt feel i played poorly though, just stopped overly caring.

Got a call from m8 during the round asking me to join him and his mate at pk. So played after lunch. Great fun and found joy and some form. Went into BEAST mode. No birdies. We played off the very back tees for a laugh.

36 holes in a day. it was draining but euphoric

16 over today at Waterford Valley. Hit Driver well 11/14 but lots of 3 putts (39 putts ouch). Birdie on the first...very close for another on the second.

Bunker incidents destroyed me today. Firstly...and god it annoys me when you pay 50/70 bucks a round, a poorly raked bunker lead to a lie with a sand castle behind my ball. Double.
Par 5 8th, 3rd shot got 100m in and accidently hit my S Wedge instead of P edge (2 clubs diff) and got a nasty fried egg 20m short. Made a 50 footer for double...triple on the next and my blood pressure was dangerous levels.

Bogey golf on the back nine with wind really up.

People who don’t take or take bunkers improperly have a special place in my hell waiting for them

That is probably the biggest thing I am jealous of you private club members. I imagine members would get booted out for leaving bunkers the way they get treated by the public. It's actually disgraceful...my brain goes into meltdown when I put a ball in one in fear of what i am likely to see, when walking to the bunker. Was playing Waverley public for quite a while and they are horrendous by the end of a day. I don't mind losing a shot when I am in one but if it blows out because of lazy stupid people it really hurts. Waterford Valley better but not always. An issue I am having there....is that they are keeping the greens pretty wet and the sprinklers soak the bunkers, they can be dry on top but wet underneath. I am finding that hard...not sure if its my technique or everyone struggles.

I think when you play public courses you kinda expect it. So when it happens you shrug your shoulders and go ah well, for the price Im paying for the opportunity to play it is what it is. And that also players may not have the opportunity to learn from seasoned golfers about on course care and etiquette.

Private club courses do also suffer from poor course care make no mistake. Have played all the sandbelt courses and equivalents in sydney and some in adelaide, you'll find lack of care as well. one theory is that members are privileged. However, equivalent lack of course respect at a public course cant be privilege. So for me that reason/theory doesnt wash.

At clubs I play at its about education, and members calling out behaviour unbecoming when they see it. If their guests are disrespectful its on the member.
